Tomorrow my brother and I are going to have a drag race, he is running a 2002 dodge viper, and he believes he can beat my bike on the quarter mile. Now I told him he was retarded, but he swears he will win. He has a lot of experience drag racing. Whilst I have very little, but i have many hours on the track. I would like to see what you all think will happen tomorrow! Post what times you think we will run and who will win. |

I think your first pass you'll run a 10.9 Your take off from the light will be fashionably late, but you'll have a good 60' time. |

http://www.dragtimes.com/Dodge--Viper-Drag-Racing. html?resultpage=6&sort=year-up Those are about the same times a stock 1125R will run based on what I've seen posted in the past. It will likely come down to whoever is the better driver and gets the better launch. |

The last time I was at a drag strip i ran a 9.98 on my 1125r, with perfect conditions and new tires, this time it will be less than perfect and semi new tires (Message edited by Mrsuperbuckets on December 23, 2014) |

If you ran a 9.98, you're no greenhorn at drag racing. Unless your brother's Viper has drag radials and some work under the hood, I bet you beat him easily. |

He has slicks, and a spoiler. That is all I know of that he has done. Is 9.98 good? I know jap bikes run faster so I didn't know if that was fast or not. |

I believe todays liter class Japanese and the current BMW/Ducati superbikes will run 9.50 in the quarter mile stock. For a car to run 10 second quarter mile times, it usually NEEDS lost of horsepower (depends on its weight) AND slicks. If it's AWD all it needs is LOTS of horsepower and lighter weight. For example, the most current Tesla S, I believe it's referred to as the P85D will do the 0-60 run in 3 seconds flat. That's approaching sportbike 0-60 time. The car is AWD and weighs a ton! But it will do the 1/4 mile in 11.6 sec. even with its 691 combined horsepower! If you look into the performance of today's super cars and sportscars they are beginning to make huge gains. 700+ horsepower is now within reach. |

Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat. 707 HP. 0-60, 3.7. Top speed 204. Street tire 1/4, 11.0. They're out there. No longer is "a slow bike faster than a fast car". Cages are respectably quick these days. Pricey ($63,995 for the Charger Hellcat), but 100% legit. |

Agree with Ratbuell. Having said that, a Yamaha FZ-07 with a 700cc parallel twin and 75 hp will do 0-60 in 3 seconds flat. It helps that the bike weighs 400 lbs. wet. Like the others said, if the power to weight ratio is near equal, the vehicle with the best traction, and hence the best start, will have the advantage. Bikes normally does have the advantage because there isn't that much weight to get it moving. But when you go up against an AWD car with launch control, watch out! In addition, roll-ons with these super cars may surprise you. Many of them have top speeds that will leave a liter class bike behind. But meh. I'll take any bike any day of the week. LOL! |

I will try and post pictures "this sites hates me when uploading pictures", But we finally got to race, and I won by a mile. He was very on point with shifts, but that old viper just couldnt keep up with the 1125r. When I let off and looked down, i was doing 153mph. now it wasnt a measured distance, it was just on a local straight road. But let me say something...... that v10 sounds goooooooooooooooood, its like jesus and a unicorn had a baby. |
