I was trying to add the Buell cigarette outlet, and just wasn't able to find a good place to mount it. Also, Powerlet works well on bikes, but cigarette outlets aren't good. I happened to get an email about a USB outlet, so order it. A little splice and dice later (spliced the Buell aux outlet pigtail to the new usb), I have USB! Note - after you've tested everything and can't figure out why there is power at the fuse box, but none at the outlet, start the bike!! It will save you a lot of frustration! Aux power only works while running I thought about putting it under the seat, but just so much heat there http://www.ebay.com/itm/USB-Powerport-12V-2-1A-Dua l-Charger-for-Smartphone-iPhone-Android-GPS-Motorc ycle-/141446847224?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessorie s&hash=item20eee39af8&vxp=mtr (Message edited by sprintst on November 22, 2014) |

Engine does not need to be running to turn on the aux circuit, you need key on, kill switch on, and sufficient voltage (12.2v?). It shuts the circuit off if either switch is off, or if you drop below 11.9v, even with the engine running. I mounted the cigarette outlet similar to what you did, it is mounted loose so I can easily remove the powered devices, and kinda dangles when nothing is attached. |
