Hey, Im pretty stumped right now. A few months ago I purchased the amazing Keda RT-4 exhaust, along with the EBR ECM to match. After the install I allowed the 10 mins for the IAC to learn the new exhaust and I did the TPS reset. I had also installed a K&N air filter. Well took it out for a spin and go some serious popping on deceleration. I did a leak check on the exhaust while the pipes were hot and it was not leaking. So I contacted Dean and he advised me to try the stock air filter so I did, and still it pops. So its been doing it now for sometime, but driving me crazy. Even when I cruise at 35-40 mph in 2nd or 3rd at 4k-5k rpm it pops! I checked for intake leak today, it was all good. Checked the IAC breather tube and it was good. Not really sure where to head next. O2 sensors all check good on the Diagnostic screen. I just hope that I'm not doing damage to the bike. Am I missing something? Checked the throttle bodies and they are good; nice and tight throttle cable, no binding. Should I try to clean the IAC? |

Contact EBR the ECM might not be right and see if they are willing to reflash it or check it out at least. Mike |

+1 bike is def not right…. I am running an EBR ECM calibrated for an FMF slip on with a Drummer SS and the bike runs awesome |

They will reflash it. I had mine re-flashed a long time ago for $25 plus shipping. Not sure if this still is the going rate. |

I think the going rate for a re-flash is $95 plus shipping |

Really?!?!?! So I bought an ECM that was programmed for that exhaust and It wont get fixed for a cheaper price, though, it is their problem that it is not mapped correctly!? |

Did not think there was an ECM specifically for the RT-4. Are you using the EBR race ECM for the RT-3 or the one for the EBR race exhaust? What did Dean recommend? Very interested in the answer. |

Yea I am using the ECM for the RT-3. I have yet to talk to him since I removed the K&N air filter. It is just a constant popping while cruising and deceleration. And when in high RPM's the popping is crazy! I may take a video on my gopro just so yall can hear it. |

Do some troubleshooting. Switch back to the stock ECM but keep the Keda and see what happens. Then try the EBR ECM with the stock exhaust. Report back. |

Yeah I'm willing to bet the tuning for the RT-3/4 is slightly different. |

Yea I've thought about that as well. I know they are suppose to match but Im sure there is some differences. I purchased an ECMspy cable and I'm going to give that a whirl. If there is anyone with some advice on using it please inform. I have been reading other post also so I have an idea about how to use the program. |

Dean would know best. I would try getting in contact with him directly and ask about tuning differences. |

If you go tampering with the ecm ebr wont help you out man. Contact them first. |

Hey so I did contact ebr and they told me that the ECM is programmed for the RT3 only so they can't help. Kind of bummed but I'll figure it out. If they can't help then ill go the ecm spy route. |

you did change your spark plugs right? |

I wonder if the programming for the EBR full system exhaust would work better, given that it is closer in design to the RT4 than the RT3. |

Yes the spark plugs are in great shape. Just pulled them yesterday. Maybe, I just don't want to have to buy a new ECM from them. I just purchased the ECM about 2 months ago and its barely been used since I upgraded the charging system during this time. |

So, I just took the bike for a quick ride with the stock ECM installed...No good. Popped even worse, even on idle. I guess ill just wait until i get the cable and try out ECMspy! Does anyone know if you can use ECMspy on the stock ECM? |

Installing a slip on exhaust shouldn't cause that much of an issue. It doesn't sound like an ecm or exhaust issue. Keep looking before you spend money and waste time with ECMspy. |

Agreed, sounds like an injector issue. Dirty or ?? I'd get the best injector cleaner I could, overdose it 400% and go out riding to burn that tank off and see if there is an improvement. Also agree with Froggy. If I was going RT-4 I'd go with EBR full race system ECM. |

You can do ecmspy to check out whats going on and clear codes before you by. |

Ok so I usually use Sea foam in the gas. Is there something better I should try? Whats another method I can use for cleaning the Injectors? Thats a bummer about the ECM, I guess I should have asked about it before I bought. Maybe someone will buy the Race ECM for the RT3 so I can get something towards the other ECM. |

Just ordered one last week after I gave Dean a "go" on an RT-3 |

Too bad you cant cancel. Are the injectors hard to remove? |

Maybe I am missing something...is there something that would prevent you from sending the ECM back to EBR for a re-flash with the new map? |

Yea I thought of that. Just need to look at pricing. May be cheaper for me to sell mine now and just buy the Race ECM for their pipes. |

Talk to Dean, he's prolly got an order for more RT-3's pending and it's a good chance those customers have not ordered an ECU yet. |

Man, I love this forum. Yall think of some good ideas! But anyway, I just took the fuel Injectors out and the rear looked pretty good but the front was full of gunk. I have them soaking in Sea Foam overnight. I looked down the cylinders and the forward pistons have quite a bit of carbon build up. Would that show signs of a fueling issue? By the way, the bike is a 2009 with 7000 miles. Been a great bike besides the charging issues but really good. |
