This strip was loose behind my 1125 battery compartment. Trivial question, but I can't seem to find a good place for it on the bike?

Anybody know where?

It's not the battery hold down strap with the ends severed is it?

Looks like the buffer material that was attached to the underside of the bar running vertical in the picture you have. It goes between the battery and that bar to protect the battery from rubbing.

I have not seen this, and I just had the whole tailsection apart to replace the subframe. It's an 08, so if you have a later model, perhaps it's something they added. I have seen a couple instances of slight difference between my 08 and 09.

Also, you can't have anything under the bar you mentioned because the cowling lip needs to slide under the bar (and it's a tight fit, at least on my bike.)

There are other's who have had the bike completely apart who might be able to figure it out. It could be something that accidentally got in there.

There is definitely no extra buffer material on the bottom side of that bar on my '09 subframe, or the spare subframe I picked up from Magpul.
