Hi guys! I've been lurking around on the board for a while now, but i've finally got an issue that's puzzling me. I had a new stator put in about a year ago to replace the one that had burnt out. I was riding around today and noticed at the stoplight(s) the battery light would come on, no problem right? Just wait until it turned green and let on the throttle to get the battery light off. Well, it finally cut out on me .. Given it was a pretty hot day today (90F) but i couldn't seem to get the voltage up beyond 12.4 and it would rapidly drop down to 11.9 - 11.8 at idle. I'm going to take it out tonight and see if indeed it was the temperature, any thoughts?

It sounds like your stator has failed, but it is hard to be sure, as it can also be the battery or the voltage regulator, or even the relay for the stator if yours is equipped.

Charge the battery up, then follow the procedures in the electrical diagnostics manual for testing the stator and voltage regulator. Take your battery to a car parts store and have them do a load test on it to see if it is still good.
