I put a Compu-Fire VR out back, just in front of the license plate. It was a fairly easy install. I used 1/4" (6mm) thick aluminum. I cut the connectors from the old VR and spliced them in. Had to add wire for AC side, new ones were way too short.

OK, the bike is up and running with new stator. OEM, made in Croatia. Rectifier/regulator runs barely arm to the touch. Output is 14.8V at 4,000RPM. Attaching a photo of the failed stator. Looks like it shorted across 2 phases.

That's warm to the touch. Sticky w. Remember children. On a blind right sacrifice speed to hug the inside. |

Update. Have about 2,00 miles on Compufire rectifier/regulator. All's well. I don't use battery tender at all anymore. My instrument panel used to go dark at times. Hasn't done that at all. Sure hope I'm not jinxing it. |
