just did a rewound stator & rotor upgrade. now volts show 14.2-13.6 so I'm wondering if the stock regulator is lasting after the upgrades? so chime in if you've had thousands of trouble-free miles since the rotor upgrade & on the stock regulator... which is what I'm hoping : )

That voltage range is normal. I have 20k+ miles on two 1125s (08 and 09), both with original regulators.

I've had a few thousand since the stator failure and no issues with the VR yet.

18k on my VR (on 3rd stator now). First stator died @ 12k, second died @ 17k, about 500-1k on new rewound stator w/ EBR mod'd rotor.

My voltage shows the same as yours - no wiring "fix" in place either.

HTH!

that's what I'm talkin bout!!

I know my voltage is normal just don't want to have to find a place to mount that big ugly 605 regulator thing. heck, maybe i'll pack an x-tra stock regulator with me just in case it ever goes out. but I love hearing the stock one works!

I made it to 18,000 miles on most recent stator (#4) & VR (#2). In process of replacing both right now. Both are failed. I'm putting a Compufire series VR on back of license plate. Made a plate to attach. Have a Jardine tail tidy in place. The failed VR had no heatsink grease on it at all. Dealer install. Manual calls for it.

Coastrambler - stock rotor still of EBR rotor?

is the compufire different than the 605 SB? Show us pics of the install please.

Btw grew up in SC as a kid. Love that place! Did the Jr. Lifeguards on boardwalk in the summers!

Will do some photos when it's done. Am still working on mounting plate. Need to drill some lightening holes.
I was concerned about electrical specifications of VR and talked with an engineer at the manufacturer, that's Compufire. Rated at sustained inverse input voltage of 800VAC and 40ADC output at 14VDC. I was particularly concerned about the inverse input voltage rating. It needs to be at least 400VAC. So this is good. Am not familiar with 605SB's ratings. Picking up new stator tomorrow.

The 1125's great on Hwy 9. Which puts Tail of the Dragon to shame.
