Thanks, Rob once again. I will be concentrating on relaxing myself on the bike as well as being "smoooooth" (Which of course has alot to do with braking as well.) I hope to have the bike out this weekend! It's coming up on 9 months since I went down and that's WAY too long. When i was doing alot of trackdays, I struggled with the transition from hard braking (trail braking at times) to rolling on the maintenance throttle early to mid corner. I was so anxious to get back on the gas, I would release the brake completely and the front end would pop up. Definitely something I need to work on .... |

Probably always will be. As much respect as I have for Keith Code and am grateful for all that I learned there (I went through all four levels and Code Race), I think they miss the boat on braking by concentrating on straight up braking early on. It's taken me a long time to undo the habit that I developed there. IMHO they should be teaching trail braking from day one. |

I took the first level of Keith Code at Laguna Seca. I found him to be pretty full of himself. I wish I had brought my bike, instead of renting one of his beatup Kawi 600s...I believe the next year they got the new fleet of Beemers. Anyhow, I try to brake straight up and down as at my level this is probably the safest, albeit not the fastest (but no one is paying me to be out there lol.) I actually trail brake when I am running "hot" into a corner...pretty much don't have a choice. either that or run off the track. Felt pretty natural when I was going to the track alot a couple years ago. Hope to get back to the track in the next month or two. Buttonwillow got re-paved! That is unexpected but a great surprise. It was getting really bad. |

I don't have a ZTL2, but I upgraded the MC on my S2T to a Brembo (18mm IIRC) radial from a Duc 999 and love it. Much faster braking response than the others I had (S1 MC and Nissin remote reservoir MC). |

Whether you brake straight up or trail in, you should always release the brake slowly. Don't let the front end bobble, especially on these bikes. Releasing the brake slowly is more important than applying it slowly imho. |

Rob, I FINALLY got back on the bike this morning. I have to say the Accossato feels way different than the OEM Master. It it supposed to be "more progressive" or less "on-off" than the stocker? It almost felt weak, but it could have just been that different (plus I haven't ridden for 9 months as well). But then again I have new pads against a new rotor and i never got any real heat into the brakes, so I am sure that had something to do with it. Just looking for your input. |

Update on the Accossato--re-bled a few small bubbles out and the firmness increased. Also came to the conclusion, it is a different feeling than the stock M/C, not a problem with the new M/C. Starting to like the radial feel as I put on miles with it. |
