I recently went with the race ecm and a barkers slip on. Ordered a standard ebr ecm with the barkers option. The bike runs great and other than a little harder starting at operating temperature, and it died on the take off from a looong street light. I assume both of them are due to racier fuel map. Now my issue is that I have noticed the check engine light comes on when started for a few seconds and a few times while riding. Never had this before with stock ecm and stock pipe. Just curious as if this is normal because of the ecm swap or if maybe the flash is not correct with the ecm. Thanks for the help new to the forum and to buell.

Sounds like your ecm or engine harness connectors are not properly seated.

Due to the nature of the way how the ECM is programmed, it will have a bunch of false positives in the historical codes section. This is normal and will clear after 50 starts. I would give it a little time to clear out then see what codes remain.

The CEL coming on while riding is not normal and does indicate that there is still a problem.

I rode again this morning and what I am noticing is that with the new set up I am only achieving 13 volts max and down to 11.9 at a stop. When be for it never went below 12.4 and was at a high of 14.1. So I am wondering if the check engine I noticed while parking last night is because of the new low voltage. I guess this means I will be doing a stator upgrade now also. Lol.

Foggy nailed it. The instructions that came with the ECM also spell that out.

Your fans are running a lot more, but if you charging system was working properly you should be seeing more than that when running.

Before buying something you may not need, do some testing of the charging system to nail down what exactly the issue is.
