I picked up the oil pump cover O-ring I ordered last week on Saturday. The thing looks like a thin slice off of an over-sized piece of shrink wrap. I was expecting a molded contoured piece. does anybody know what that is about? THX in advance |

I would think that the 'molded contoured' appearance of the used part is due to the constraint of the seal in the cover and the heat that it sees setting it in that shape. My replacement was essentially a 'rubber band' like you described and has been working fine. If your replacement doesn't fit in groove without sticking out any (as in excess length) - then I'd be worried. And, yes, my replacement was a little proud of the cover (i.e. it stuck out - high - a little). My $0.02, 1313 |

popped mine off last night. yeah it's just a round seal & the groove holds it in. re-used mine. |
