How many track hours between oil and filter changes? I am currently running motul 300v oil. | ||

Some guys change oil/filter after every weekend. I'm a little stingier, so only change 3-4 times a season (6-8 race weekends, plus about the same number of trackdays). I'll usually let it go until it starts to darken. I run a slipper on the 'least slip' side of adjustment. JD runs his slipper clutch on the loose side as I recall, so I believe he changes more often. Race teams with healthy budgets change after each day, so it's really up to you. Motul - smells like bananas....mmmm | ||

And has a strange florescent color. I do not run a slipper. Currently the oil has virtually no color change. I currently have 7 track days on the current fill. I think I will change before the next track day and cut the filter to inspect. Thanks for the help | ||

5-10 hours would be normal on 300v. Two indicators I like to use: 1. Oil color change 2. Shifting feeling slightly sticky | ||

Is used oil analysis an option? That might be the best way to gauge? http://www.blackstone-labs.com/standard-analysis.p hp $25 ea or @ quantity 6 = $20 ea. I've been thinking of getting a 6 pack of prepaid UOA's - with TBN to gauge how much life is left at different change intervals. HTH! Rob | ||

Try the dipstick and clean paper towel trick. Pull dipstick, touch oily end on clean paper towel, allow to "dry" overnight. Check in the morning and see if the color is even or does it have a darker ring around the edge. Even=OK, dark ring around the edge=CHANGE OIL/FILTER. If you are running 100% syn, I'd do like Jdugger says for his #2! |
