So I got the ebr rotor and a ricks rewound stator, also unplugged the hd bandaid fix. I've got about 300 miles on the new setup and it's started to act up. 12.4volts at idle 11.3 or less at any other rpm... Lights and fans don't seem to effect it. Only thing I haven't replaced is the vr but wouldn't that cause it to over charge? Are there any tests for the vr? |

Test the stator first. If you don't know how, unplug the stator from the vr where the "fix" was. Test pin to pin 1-2 1-3 and 2-3 @ 3k rpm. Should show -40VAC IIRC. Make sure to test in AC voltage. Then test resistance pin to pin, should be close to 1 ohm. Then test resistance on all pins to ground, should be open. If that checks out, test VR output. Should be 14.3-14.7 VDC @ 3600 rpm. Hope this helps. Chris |

Be pretty if I only got 300 miles out of a new stator 0.0 |

Normally when people do this fix they replace the VR at the same time. The new system's output overheats the stock VR and will ruin it. Most people go to an air cooled VR mounted somewhere with good flow. |

I also did the EBR rotor and Ricks USA stator. After installation I had 12.2v at idle and 12.7 max while riding, as it warmed up it dropped to 11.9v at idle. I then removed the " HD fix" with no change. Then fitted the CE605sb VR and still no change. I tested the stator and found 0.4 ohms at each wire to ground and when testing the AC voltage between the wires - idle 20 - 20.5v 3000 rpm 40v 4500rpm 57v all phases were nearly the same. Contacted Ricks with the test results and they said it appeared the stator was at fault and sent me a replacement bench tested one. Only received it Friday and will be fitting it on Wednesday, hope its all good. |

That sucks. At least you know what your getting into. I plan on reassembling mine after my regulator comes in tomorrow. |

Got antsy and put mine back together with the stock regulator. Ran for about 5 min and showed between 13.5 and 14.5. went for first ride, system voltage error shows 16.8 volts on the cluster. shut off, restarted and it was fine, so went for a ride(had to warm up the oil ya know) and it has been fine. I gather it's the VR. My new one should be in tomorrow. Hope that's it. |

I haven't had a moment to test anything :-/ |
