Went on a little ride yesterday (575 miles when it stopped working). Bike started cutting out. Pulled off the road. Bike shut off. I figure i'm out of gas (light came on 4 miles ago , but I was going fast) Push to gas station. Fill it up and it starts but won't stay running. Trailered it home. Fired it up at home and it started , but started revving its self up , then died. Stator? |

I would guess the TPS or the IAC. the reving high by itself would leave me to believe the TPS |

Check to see if your charging. Check connections at ignition switch. |

Clean IAC, reset TPS. Try again. Clean the plugs too. See if that helps. Hopefully its simple. |

Had a little time today... Bike is starting and running fine UNTIL pressure is applied to the seat. Removed seat. Looks like a little oil fart in there, not too bad , but still should not be there. I don't see anything obvious. With the seat removed , and bike idling , if I poke around at the wires I can not get it to shut off. Reinstall seat and apply pressure to the rear of the seat , and it dies. |

What stator/VR setup are you running? Some of the upgraded VR's run the relays under the seat. Weak connection there will shut you down. My seat is coming off now though...going to poke around and see what is imperative under there. ***edit*** Just thought of something. Check your ground side battery cable routing. It could've shifted up under the subframe in such a way the seat is contacting it. Depends on the battery you are running, but I've seen some wild battery cable routings. Just an idea. When I bought my 1125 (2nd owner) the PO had a battery with reversed terminals installed. The ground cable was routed in between the tail section and subframe. That's what made me think of that. If it is rubbing on the subframe when you sit, you're grounding the bike. Which brings me to my next question. When you apply pressure to the seat, do you lose lights and everything? Or does the bike die and lights stay on? (Message edited by brokenGQ on July 04, 2014) |

Thanks for the ideas GG... When the bike dies , the lights and dash stay on. |

Not yet. I've been working days and nights. will have some time this weekend. I'll let everyone know what I find. Going to try TPS reset and clean IAC first... then dig deeper if that does not clear things up. |

Finally got some time! Tried TPS reset , not sure if it worked (key on , WOT for 1 sec , hold close for 1 sec, turn off key , repeat two more times...) Went to diagnostic mode and checked TPS.. not touching throttle its sitting at 2 and at WOT its reading 90. It does not seem to be related to the seat(just really seemed to be that one day)...but then again its acting pretty erratically , starts and idles normally then just dies , starts and with nobody on the throttle its jumping up to 3-4k RPMs then shutting itself off , starts and idles like crap and shuts itself off... Going to get some throttle body cleaner for the IAC... |

TPS reset for 1125 model. KEY ON RUN SWITCH ON totally closed throttle and hold for one second then wide open throttle and hold for one second...repeat two more times then turn the key off! |

BTW, did you check your battery terminals to see if they are tight? |

Checked terminals , they are good. Used throttle body cleaner in the IAC... battery light came on but I had started the bike about 20 times and was just letting it idle. It is back on the charger for now. I can't seem to get the TPS reset done. I've tried a few times , and going into diagnostic mode , and checking TPS its now stopping at around 85 at WOT... |

Make sure you have the run switch turned ON!! The tps values will not be correct if the switch is in the off position. If it is on make sure the elbow hose from the air box to the iac isn't jaming the linkage on the right side of the throttles. |

Took off airbox , removed IAC hose and checked tps... tps now at 100% at WOT... reinstalled everything , TPS still good...fired it up and got a code P2300. Found I had disconnected the front coil when installing he air box snorkel. It seems to idle better... I'm going on a little test ride hopefully. (Message edited by dwp138 on July 19, 2014) |

Tore up and down my street. It seemingly runs great , but then just dies at low RPMs... like another guy on this forum... This time during one of the stalls , the IC died for a split second.... |

I'm pretty close to 12,000 miles. I'm going to pull the frame and go over everything. I'm stumped at this point , and you guys have gone quiet. |

Easy fix keep your hands off the IC. Do not mess with it when its running. Good luck with that have no idea whats wrong. Do you have someone near you with another ECM you could try. |

wiring or sensor issue, sitting on the seat may be pressing on wiring start there looking for stuff. the computer can't diagnose all faults, broken wire making intermitting contact check ground at rear of frame too. good luck... |

I had a problem that caused my bike to die at low RPM. Turned out to be a faulty wire in my ignition switch. I have an 08 R. The CR is less likely to have that problem due to the upgraded harness. It would be worth a look though. My test for it was to turn the key on, and wiggle the wiring coming out of the bottom of the key switch. For me, my lights would flicker and my fuel pump would constantly reprime. If you nicked the front coil when you reinstalled the snorkel, you may have gotten the ignition wiring too. |
