Not sure what's up. Tried replying to your note. To answer the question: copper, but spring steel holds up better. |

If it was a PM, things have changed due to overzealous microsoft anti-spoof/spam system. Gotta copy paste the person's email address or use PM on forum to reply to a PM. The issue was that our PM utility would populate the "reply to" field with the email address of the sender of the private message. Microsoft email services didn't like that. So now we have to populate" reply to" field with the actual sending email address from the badweb private message utility. The private message sender's email address is included in the body of the private message. You now have to cut-and-paste it into a reply. Either that or click on the link to the bad weather private message utility to return a reply via your own private message. |

Maybe try upgrading this antiquated forum software to something a little more robust? |

vBulletin > phpBB That's both in security and usability. |

I know phpBB can be a bit loose around security, but it IS free... and usability (really?!?) - compared to this current forum. One word - sticky. It's all in the implementation. Considering cost is likely a hangup and limitation - free is nice. I'll take any of the above as an improved experience. Searches, stickys, mailbox, etc. bye bye archives and actual usable old posts you can comment/resurrect (if not stickied). |

I personally prefer SMF http://www.simplemachines.org/ Open Source, robust community support, and heavily extended. |

Is there a way to retrieve the PMs that I tried to send and apparently didn't go? A few were replies and one was a new PM but I don't think they have worked for a while. I wish I knew about this issue and didn't think that the other person was being rude. |

+1 for SMF, I've installed and administered it on a couple of sites and it works quite nicely. |

Blake, if you're interested in looking into an alternate board system I can provide a server free of charge for staging/testing. It can be used to dry run an update/upgrade without impacting the live board. |
