Initial results with the EBR ECM were positive. The bike was still hot from commuting when I installed the ECM, but it didn't die at idle upon startup. I'll reserve my final judgment for a few days from now after riding every day, but (knock on wood) so far it has not crapped out at idle.

The fans are actually running like I think they should now also.

Caveat: I wouldn't spend the money on a new ECM before going through the entire manual to try to rule everything else out.

The OP's condition seems more to me like a crappy battery or charging system since he mentioned 12V while riding around.

Thunderstorms here lately, so no more riding. I'll give it until Tuesday or wednesday to pass final judgment

Its been a while, but the weather hasn't been cooperative.

The ECM seems to have solved the issue. However, with the fans running significantly more than they used to (with the crap ECM), I began having battery issues.

My current battery is the bike's second, replaced when the stator crapped out back in 2010. With the 4-year old battery startups have been more difficult with the EBR ECM, even with sitting on a tender. From reading around the forum, it seems like some others with older batteries began showing uses with he new ECM also. I can only assume it's because (for me anyway) the fans run much much more and cause that much more of a drain on it. Keep in mind it's hot as piss here and the high humidity doesn't help things. Puerto Rico at its hottest was significantly cooler than 99% of my days here so far.

Again, I wouldn't spend the money on a new ECM before going through the entire manual to try to rule everything else out.

Got mine out today. I changed the plugs and oil. Put seafoam in the gas and cleaned the throttle body. When I started it, it was running rough. Took it across town and it died at a stop light but couldn't tell what the volts were due to the fact I was in traffic. Got on the interstate and started running way better staying between 14 and 13.8 volts. The other times I hit stop lights I held it at 3000 rpms and had no trouble, but noticed my volts would drop a little. Got in the drive way and stayed at 1000 rpms in natural til I turned it off after around a minute when I noticed my volts dropping. CT 196 Bat 132 Gear N at 100F and BRT ADJ level 4. Is the volts dropping at idle normal?

Went to start the bike and my volts were going low 12s and dying. If I keep on the throttle it would go up between 13.8 and 14.2.This is everything that's been done to the bike. I went to do the unfix and guessing its already been done. (Didn't see any wire like the YouTube video) Took the battery out and ran it to the shop they said it was good but died. I'm guessing it ran fine at the end yesterday because it was charged. So I'm guessing there is a short? Any ideas?

Glad to hear you finally got it figured out.

As a semi-related sidenote: I had to go over my grounds again as the bike started acting up similar to what it had been doing. The ECM ground on the left side of the front cylinder was slightly loose. The only thing I can think of was that since it was such tight clearance, I had to wiggle the swivel and extensions with the socket on it to get it off after tightening it. I apparently wiggled it loose enough to start a headache again.

I would definitely start checking grounds then. Could be a bad ground for the ECM.

Also possible the IAC hose? I know you checked and cleaned the IAC, but if the hose isn't installed correctly it can cause issues. The only issues I've heard have been minor however.

Just got it back from the shop they said it was fixed drove it back and hour and half and same problem. They tried to put a stock ecm in and that didn't work. Put mine ebr ecm in and tuned it. Its throwing voltage across the screen some times when I try to start it back up.

What do you mean by throwing voltage across the screen when you try to start it?

Did you check the ECM ground wire on the left side? You may have a pinched or broken wire in the harness somewhere. I would bust out the multimeter to rule that out.

I've seen that before with a weak battery, it flashes "system voltage" really quickly on the screen.

Regarding the OPs issue, it really sounds like a failing IAC to me. I've seen posts before about taking them apart to fix them up, worth a shot before buying another one.

Did you ever figure this out? I am having similar running issues without the voltage problems.

Sorry for not getting back on here. I they tuned the bike with the ebr ecm and did a throttle reset and its been running fine. Some odd reason it took care for the charging problem.
