Check the relay under the seat. Known to go bad. Dragging starter could be a bad starter (very rare) or a bad sprag clutch (also rare). Things to check though. |

What is your battery voltage? Low voltage will cause the clicking sound as well. |

we had a battery charger on it for a few minutes as we rechecked everything |

when we checked it with a meter the voltage went down as we tried to start it |

What did it drop to? Anything less than 9.2vdc is considered a dead battery. Did you disconnect the battery when you pulled the starter? You might have just shorted the battery. (Message edited by brokenGQ on June 26, 2014) |

that would make sense since it felt warm from sitting there. since i didn't disconnect the battery cables. would there be any other problem besides the battery dying or won't know until i change the battery out |

have a spare car battery to test with? Hook cables and see if it turns over without any problems and go from there. Troubleshooting from electrical manual: Battery Testing: HTH! Rob |

Ok an update. I hooked up a car battery not running of course and I got a humming noise from the relay and nothing else. I quickly disconnected the cables. Could it be the starter relay is gone?? |

Burrhead, try swapping the relays around, it is possible that one of them failed. |

Sounds likely. Follow froggy's advice. |
