400nm is a lot for a homemade rig. If there's interest I'll see if I can turn out a few at the shop. |

If you can make some that would be equivalent to the kent moore for a decent price I'd be game for one |

Same here. I'd love one. Careful about patent violations, etc. Though. |

I wouldn't be mass producing them, so I'm not overly concerned about patents |

I've got one in San Diego for anyone that needs to use it. Shoot me a PM. Hopefully I won't need it again. I have used it a couple times already... |

it can be home-made, but that's alot of stress on a small, mild-steel shaft and there are members on here who are happy to lend out their locking tool. i'm back in town, so whoever would like to borrow mine; please send me a PM |

Sorry guys I'm not sure what happened but I haven't gotten any responses. I sent Nillaice a PM first and didn't hear back so I tried Dhays. I'm still needing a tool so I'll just email Dhays directly since I have that. Thanks a lot. |

Go to the hardware store get 1/4" rod and a bolt metric size ? old age. Cut the head off drill a hole through it spot weld it in place. Use a grinder and a drill running to round the tip before you bend the other end look at my picture a few post above.I have used it 4 times. |

Hey guys, another new member here. I have an EBR modded flywheel coming in the mail, and need a crankshaft locking tool. Trying to get my bike ready for a week-long trip to Yellowstone in early July. Does anyone have one available? Also, I have a friend who is a machinist who says he could turn a few on his lathe if I have accurate enough measurements. I found this in another post, but need a bit more detail: "The tool has a length of 2.935" from the first thread to the radiused tip. The rod is .301" in diameter. It is made by Kent-Moore. The thread is M12 and is .350" long. It is not very hard. The handle is .700" in diameter and is 3' long with a 3/8" hex milled on the end. My guess it is about RHC 35." Is the 2.935" to the end of the tip or the beginning of the radius? Is the thread M12x1.75? I'll be happy to mic out a loaner if one is available. |

I know some have made their own with no problems. Be aware that at least one individual had the tip snap off of a homebrew crank locking tool. It ended up stuck in his crank. I don't remember if he had to split his cases to get it out. You will not catch me using anything but the official tool on either of my motors. I believe the tool is hardened. Twin motorcycles has one for 56 euros plus shipping from the nether regions. And I think 50doro is a stateside distributor for them http://www.twinmotorcycles.nl/webshop/artikel.asp? guid=YXHFSC&aid=4129&cid=0&s=TMTOOL001&a=&aname=Bu ell_1125_RCR_TM_Crank_TDC_locking_tool_ I might be best to start another thread about the tool and it's specifics for those that want to make their own. Back on topic; Who wants to borrow my locking tool? |

Nillaice - i wanted to give Rotarydave a chance to chime in if he needed yours before i jumped ahead of him. Since i don't have my parts yet (but on the way). He didn't respond, so paypal sent today. New interface, so if it doesn't come along as a gift i'll pay the difference. Didn't show that option... odd, but just let me know. rob |

Paypal changed the verbiage, it is a "personal" payment now instead of gift, it works the same as before. |

I've been elbow deep in my wife's FZ6, so haven't been on in a few days. I have my EBR flywheel and am ready to go as soon as I can get my hands on the tool. If I can't get one in the next week or two I'll have to try a homemade tool. |
