I don't remember the crash because I was knocked unconscious. But it looks like I low sided, slid off the road and hit a rock wall on Montazuma Grade heading to Borrego Springs. My buddy told me nothing obvious on the roadway but I must have lost the front fast to have been knocked out. I remember nothing until waking up in the helicopter. 24 hours later and I am sore but otherwise totally normal, completely fine. Bike is another story... cracked the frame where the front fairing stay attaches, broken front fairing stay, bent forks, bent front rim, bent subframe, shredded plastics. The bike had 25,000 miles and was better than the day I picked it up at the dealership... perfect condition. Now the process of considering a rebuild to normal, rebuild to street fighter, or part out and move on... Sigh Great bike and Im sad but Im also really really happy Im not broken! |

To hell with the bike, glad you're ok. Were you wearing full gear? |

Sorry for the loss of the bike. Happy that you are alright. You weren't by chance on Palomar yesterday, were you? 1904 Photography had some pictures of a white 1125R and a black 1125R following. I was up there yesterday on the CR with a buddy on his CBR. Glad that you made it out in one piece. Rest up to ride another day!!! |

Dude - someone was watching over you i'm sure. Glad you are ok. It's just a bike - the rider is the irreplaceable part! Bike is likely toast if insurance has anything to say about it. I'd look online to see if anyone else has one to Frankenstein together. Or grab one for sale and transfer your best parts. Some serious luck and live to ride another day!! |

Glad to hear you're OK...the grade has taken it's share of riders - warm up the ebay account and rebuild..you've spent alot of time and effort to get her reliable. Take time to heal, and get back on two wheels when you're ready! |

Somebody's watching out for you! I'd see what you can buy the totaled bike from the insurance company for, and base your next move on that price. I like the idea of buying a $4-5k used bike and keeping the original for parts. |

Sounds like a good result, you walked away from it - that is the main consideration Everything else is just a bit annoying. All will be fine again soon. |

Glad to hear you're ok....gear survivability review please! Track bike or Street fighter, it would make a sick street fighter. Aztec8 makes some nice looking 'fighter kits. |

Thinking I will rebuild... Love this bike too much to part out and move on. Still considering aprillia RSV4, speed triple, XB12 or 9 S. The right RC51, another 1125 maybe CR... Fun to dream/shop craigslist Yes, that was me in the 1904 shots on Palomar... Kinda cool some last shots if the bike. Full gear including boots, leathers and a fox Titan motocross jacket under my leather jacket... Motocross helmet may have been a bad choice as I really got knocked out... No other injuries at all though.... Feeling pretty blessed. |

A lot has been learned in the last few years about concussive brain injury. Very few docs are up to speed on the latest. I am glad you are feeling OK, but keep an eye on yourself as symptoms may not appear for a couple of weeks. I speak from experience. Moodiness, irritability, difficulty concentrating, etc., can all emerge as unrecognized post concussion symptoms. Age is a factor. Hopefully you have avoided any of this. If not, be patient with yourself as it usually resolves with time. Be well. Good luck. |

Sounds like Excellent advice from Rodrob. If you are like me you may want someone you trust to help with the symptoms, whenever I am sick I don't think as well. |

Todd, Sorry to hear it, but Montezuma Valley grade is a very serious road to lose it on. You're lucky to be alive. There's a bunch of places on that road where going off the road means going over a cliff. Heal well.... Al |

Very glad you're still alive and relatively unscathed! If you decide to part it out, I'd likely be interested in the motor... Ping me privately to discuss it further if warranted. |

Wow Todd... Glad you're OK. Knocked out huh? Surely some level of concussion as Rob noted. Heal fast my friend. Zack |
