Was goin down short straight into a slow right hand turn. I almost lost the back and pulled into the pits to check the bike and this is what I found: Any idea on what happened? Estimate on fix? The engine was still running, but oil was gushing from the top of the engine. Bright side I got to ride with this guy last month: Will |

Blow a gasket? If you are parting out what kind a exhaust you got? I may buy it. I cut my Jardine too short and it is way too loud. Sorry about your scooter |

Could just be a loose valve cover. |

Sorry you're having issues. No way to really know what's going on without seeing the top end. Pop off the airbox and give us a look. |

oil level too high? or as Rodrob sez just a loose cover? check the magnet on the drain plug...it'll give you a better indication... Experience is a tough teacher...it gives you the test first and the lesson later. |

I hope that its easily repairable, possible clutch / vacuum issue? if you part it out are the case guards for sale? (Message edited by oldog on June 12, 2014) |

My R did similar a few years ago, it was just a cracked PCV that was replaced under warranty, although it wasn't spewing oil that bad. |

If the engine oil is overfull you will blow oil out the breather and it will run down the cylinder head, The amount in the image looks excessive but if you are significantly overfull that could be the cause. Remove the airbox cover then pull the filter. If you have oil pooling in the airbox that may be your source. Easy peasy check. Or it could be a loose valve cover. |

I would almost bet that it's your rear valve cover. Probably just came loose. In all actuality, I believe it looks worse than it actually is. Best of luck!! |

UPDATE Finally got a chance to work on the bike. Checked oil level and it was on the high end. Started her up and no leaks. Changed oil and filter...ran her for a good 20 minutes without any leaks. Any insights? Did my bike pull a Christine? Thanks, Will |

I put 2.75 quarts in. I measured the old oil and it was less than 3 quarts. I'm dumbfounded! Will |

Not sure about the 1125's, but on many bikes that could be a classic crank seal scenario. When it starts to fail, it is mostly fine, but under particular scenarios it will burp a bunch of oil all at once and hose something down, then be fine for a while. It gradually gets worse over time. Over filling could do it also. |
