Okay! So I am moving from Dallas Texas to San Clemente Cali. Do I need to worry about being able to register my 1125r? Are there any emission requirements that I am unaware of??? |

The stock muffler has cats and is designed to meet Fed noise emissions of 80 dB, so if it has an aftermarket exhaust, you may have a problem if registration requires an inspection by DMV. Cali models have a CARB cannister connected to the fuel tank and intake manifold. I don't know if DMV would check for this during the inspection. Also, you have 20 days from residence to register the bike. Welcome to California! |

Enjoy lane splitting, it's so much better than sitting in traffic. |

You just can't bring in NEW vehicles. Once your bike has..... 7000miles?... you are good to go, and do not have to worry about California specific emissions. |

The 49 state 2008 model did not have a cat built into the exhaust. I _think_ the mileage needs to be 7500. WHY would you ever want to move to Komifornia? |

When you get to CA you will have to take it to DMV and get a vin verification. I am not sure if they will say anything about an aftermarket exhaust. I think Dean is right, as long as you have 7500 miles on it you should have no trouble registering it. |

Out of state bike needs at least 7,500 miles. I got my bike for $3,995 with 4k miles , super clean , because the original owner moved from AZ to CA ,and did not have the 7,500 miles needed. Somehow he got the title red flagged , which means the bike can NEVER be registered in CA again , by anyone. I drove from PHX to LA , and trailered it home. |

I bought my 2009 from a Southern state with ~1,200 miles on it. No Cali can, no CAT. They looked at the emissions sticker and balked since it didn't say CA Emissions equipment was installed. If you have a relative in another state, the easiest thing to do is register it in their name as an out of state resident, but at your address. Then once it has a CA registration it can be "sold" to you. This trickery is only needed as others have said, if you have fewer than 7,500 miles. |

My understanding from previous posts is the 7500 mile rule does not apply if you are moving to the state, it is only for current residents. That said, if your bike doesn't have 7500 miles on it, you should be riding more |

Welcome to Cali! A great place to be a biker! Or motorcycle enthusiast for that matter! And don't worry, not very commie here, just as fascist as any other $4ithole state like MO or who knows where else they don't like lane sharing and good year around riding weather! although the whole English as a second language thing definitely gets a bit old at times... Oh I might need a sarcasm emoticon for most of this post, but seriously CA rocks, especially for motorcyclists! |

Just for the record. A non California bike needs to have at least 7,500 miles AND be at least 2 years old to be registered here. A somewhat mute point for us Buellers. Welcome to California. Some of the greatest riding anywhere. |

What Froggy wrote is true. The 7500 mile rule applies to existing Cali residents purchasing/registering vehicles. It doesn't apply to people moving here from other states. Al |
