I may be in the minority but I don't hate my Harley dealer. They've been very helpful.
That said..
I've purchased an EBR ECM, it's in the mail, They claim that if I purchase a replacement EBR ECM they will need to put it on the Digital Tech II and somehow "sync" it to the bike. (my words not theirs) They claim you just can't plug in, reset the throttle position sensor, and go.

Any truth to this? Can anyone guess what they are talking about?

No. Remove the stock unit, install the EBR one. Follow THEIR directions in the package, ie; TPS reset, IAC reset, ride it. The dealer shouldn't be involved in this at all.

Idle Air Control. Basically, start it and let it idle for 10 minutes. Keep a fan on it so it doesn't overheat.

Dean is correct it is basically plug and play. Only new stock ECMs require the dealer computer.

IAC is Idle Air Control, it self calibrates as the bike idles.

Use caution if you take your bike to the dealer!! They may not understand you have replaced the ECM and they may flash the harley OEM stock map to it the next time they see your bike.

If I were to lose my mind, go insane or have a complete lack of good judgment and end up taking MY bike to a harley davidson motorcycle boutique I would remove my EBR ECM and put the OEM back in.

I took mine for something else and put a sign on the airbox "do not reflash ECM" and wrote it in big letters on the service order.

OK, dumb question alert: I had my stator and rotor replaced by the local HD dealer last year. How do I check to make certain they did not reflash my EBR ECM?
