So I got back from the dragon yesterday (pics will follow shortly) and I'm having problems shifting into third. Now, at the dragon I had to keep it in 2nd a whole lot (riding with a guy and it was his first time so I had to take it easier.) Anyway I probably left it in second and used engine breaking way too much.

Long story short is today I almost couldn't get her to go into 3rd. I thought maybe it was my new boots, but no. I would have to go back into first and let the engine go higher up in the rpm and then go to second. And finally third. But it would take 4 tries. She runs fine in all gears once she gets to third. Also shifts fine going down the line. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

How old is your oil?

Brand new. Changed it before I left. I'm going to take the drain plug out real quick and make sure I don't see any metal in it but I would think she wouldn't run well in any gear if there had been some kind of catastrophic failure.

Check the primary chain tension.

Sounds like your clutch is not releasing all the way.

Have you installed aftermarket levers recently?

Well I figured out part of it. I was riding yesterday with my new boots. And I guess I wasn't hitting the shifter just right. Rode today with my shoes (I know I know) and it shifted just fine. I need to break in the new boots I guess. I'll keep an eye on her either way. Thanks everyone.

Chris.

Or raise your shifter. Sounds like the boots aren't "releasing" the shifter between shifts...
