Ok, so I finally got tired of seeing the battery light come on at stop lights and followed the advice of most people on this forum and removed the HD harness. Presto! No more battery light. I've searched through the posts regarding what to do with the HD harness connectors afterwards, but I haven't been able to find a concrete explanation. I followed the steps detailed here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nBYEYGJfyBw The thing is, the video doesn't really explain what to do with the harness after un-fixing. Do I tape them up? Completely removing the harness isn't an option yet as the bike is still under warranty and I may want to connect the bike before it goes back to the dealership for servicing. However, I'm concerned just leaving them dangling might not be a good idea when it rains... Thoughts? |

I know for a fact that Deutsch makes dust caps for their plugs. I think they run like $1. I'm not certain that they make them for the same connectors used on the HD harness, but might be worth a look into. |

My Deutsch connector dust plugs finally arrived and I've been trying to connect them but no joy. The receptacle on the harness is a DTP04-4P which, according to my understanding of various manuals, the corresponding plug is the DTP06-4S. However, the pins in the receptacle are significantly larger than a DTP06-4S can handle. I'm curious if Harley customized the connectors somehow? If not, does anyone know which plug fits Harley's version of the DTP04-4P? |

Can the entire harness be removed? I'm currently installing my new regulator and I'd like to tackle as much as I can while I'm in here. |

waiting on my new stator, installed the rotor upgrade, removed the whole harness. I am wondering if it's ok to just leave the connector open from the ecm that toggles the relay... |

There's 3 connectors I'm unsure what to do with when the band aid harness is removed. |

I just taped them and stashed them to the side. I looked at a few other threads and all seems fine. Good Luck. |

I'd like to find a diagram to see exactly where they go. I've been searching the last couple days and all I can seem to find is threads talking about leaving the harness plugged in or taking it out... But if the bike runs fine with no check engine lights with those three connectors unplugged, I guess that's the route I'll go. |

just leave the harness patch alone, 3 years ago I undid the harness and no problems. |

I took mine out to de-clutter the under seat area. I didn't see any sense in riding around with several feet of dangling wire bouncing around under there. When I removed mine there were no unaccounted for connectors after I found their mates. I won't have a chance until next weekend, but I'll take the airbox cover and bottom plate off and snap some pictures when I get a chance. |

I'd appreciate it... I've got one connector coming from the left pod(ECM), one from the center of the air box, and one from the silver canister on the right side of the air box. I'm still tech flexing and organizing wires... Currently the connectors in question are just taped off. I should have the new regulator mounted and wired by Wednesday... We'll see where I'm at from there. |

The connector going to the left pod goes to the ECM. Just tape that one off. The one leading to the "silver cylinder" it the "noid" reference the "de-noid" thread. That was never part of the harness "fix". There should have been the stator connector that the harness "T" into. Those get reconnected together. Then the relay get pulled with the rest of the harness. |

Ok I'll search the "de-noid thread" that just leaves the center connector un explained. |

The plug to the noid I believe plugs into the plug that's in the center that you see |

one plug on the left by the ecm under the pod is a CAN bus connection, |
