So I have a red CR and want to get a laminar lip for it. I plan on buying another flyscreen and solid mounting it to one since it's such an easy swap. My issue is I'm not digging the look of the smoked lip on a red bike...should I get a clear lip and use it on the red flyscreen or should I order a smoked lip and a black screen? dilemma...lol I don't suppose anyone has a red bike with a clear lip, or pictures of one? My google'fu is weak because I can't seem to find a visual example. |

I'd like to see a clear one on a red bike too. You've got the same idea as me. I also want to solid mount one to a second fly screen so I can swap back and forth if I choose. I guess brilliant minds think alike. |

smoked on a black screen...be aware on how it mounts ...at speed the "lip" works OK....when a large semi passes you in the opposite direction (two lane road) the "backwash" from the semi can tear it off the super Velcro mounts...I had to drill holes in the stock wind screen and mount with some nylon bolts and a piece of tubing to space it ...No, I don't have a CR...the lip is on my Vstrom. |

Clear one and have it color matched to the red flyscreen. Paint the back side of the Laminar. |

That's an interesting idea about painting the back side of a clear one, I hadn't considered that. I've got years of body shop experience and happen to work at a body shop supply that deals in PPG lol I don't mind the smoke lip on a black screen, for some reason a head on shot of that combo reminds me of an ant-lion from Half Life 2 haha |

Just an FYI, the lip does not fit if you have the clubman handlebars. |

The bike has clubmans on it but I have the high bar kit to install, I am leaving on vacation, when I come back I am planning on ordering the EBR clutch fix and improved rotor and having a weekend of fun... Thanks for the warning though froggy (Message edited by Harleyms on May 01, 2014) (Message edited by Harleyms on May 01, 2014) |

Hey Harley, do you still have the '98 Buell S1W? Cool bike, I saw the picture you posted of it in your personal profile. |

Redbat I do still have the S1W, as soon as I get the chance I'll take an updated profile picture with the "sisters" lol I ordered a clear lip today, we'll see how it looks in a few days I suppose. Like race suggested I can always paint the backside red...I used to do clear bugshields that way |

Please post some pictures at different angles of the Laminar Lip when you get it mounted. (Message edited by Redbat on May 20, 2014) |

I have a CR with high bars and I feel like I am getting blown off the bike once I hit 80mph. The worst part is the negative feed back I create by trying to hold on. I am going to have to try this. (Message edited by nikoff90 on May 20, 2014) |

Redbat, I got a clear "lip" from the brown truck today but it'll be a little bit before I'm able to mount it. As Froggy said it won't work with the clubman bars, I have the highbar kit to install but plan to do the EBR clutch slave kit at the same time...just gotta dodge the raindrops to work on it...rained all weekend and the 10 day forecast shows a good chance daily, what happened to "April showers?" I have room to park it out of the weather but working on it is a different story.

Well I got an email asking about this and finally got off my duff and got some pictures. I got it installed a couple weeks ago and haven't had much ride time since. Here's the clear lip installed on a red CR...about the only thing I didn't think through when ordering the clear one was how they "hide" the velcro attachment points. I'm not sure I'm super keen on their methods but can't honestly think of a better way (maybe black instead of silver?)

You could always have a piece of red vinyl cut to create a "frame" around the bottom bit of the lip to hide the attachment points. Something like this, but more precise than MS Paint of course. :-)

Thanks for posting the photos. Now one more request, please, tape pieces of thread all over the front of your helmet, arms and torso and then, take selfies at 60mph, 70 mph, 80 mph, 90 mph, 100 mph, 110 mph, 120 mph, 130 mph, etc. So that I can see the effect of the laminar lip. If your unable to get off your duff and to that, at least rent or build a wind tunnel and simulate the same. Thanks again for the photos and your expected compliance with my request. |

lol Frank, I'm sorry but I don't see that happening. I can tell you that at 80mph you still get a fair amount of wind on your helmet but it cuts down what hits you in the chest immensely. |
