Anyone in the SE Michigan or Northern Ohio area interested in renting your crankshaft locking tool out? Seems that EBR is regularly sold out on these and if they are out there we could share them. I will of course pay all shipping and chip in some money for your troubles. Just an idea, since I'm hoping to not pull this rotor ever again after the EBR modification. |

Cold steel. Worked fine for me. As for the torquing down part... no one had a torque wrench capable of 300ftlbs. In fact even the Aprila service guys laughed when they heard that so I used a 250 and pushed it maybe a 1/16 more? There was a fair amount of lock tight as well. Seems fine now. |

The shop I'm at has a 500# torque wrench. It's 3/4" drive and a little over 3 feet long. I had trouble getting it to click at 300#, I weigh ~150#. well, my feet were still on the ground... barely. Honestly, if you don't have a proper torque wrench, get a 1-1/4" deep socket and a 1/2" drive breaker bar. 2' long and 150# or 3' long and 100# at 3 o'clock and you're there. If you can't get hold of a suitable torque wrench see if you can hire or borrow a torque multiplier to go with a smaller torque wrench ......... this also has the added advantage that it will need less input power from the user so could allow the weaker amongst us to apply the correct torque. |

My crank locking tool. Don't laugh, it worked just fine, it was free, and it was made in the time it took for my parts to arrive.
It's just a 1/4" rod, an M12 x 1.5 bolt with a hole in it, and the ugliest stick weld you've ever seen. |

And my torque wrench.... Again, it worked and it'll never loose calibration for as long as gravity never changes... Also free.

I never even heard of a torque multiplier. Learn something new everyday! I did some hunting and no-one had one to rent and the only one I found local to buy was from snap-on and was way out of my league. I even called my local Buell shop and asked if any techs could rent/ borrow theirs to me but NO-ONE had one! :/ Goes to show even more why I don't bring my ride there anymore for servicing. Well my feet never left the ground but I also weigh 240lbs. And while the spec says 300ftlbs I have no doubts it isn't going anywhere. And if it does then it does. But back to the offer... I am willing to send my custome made tool to who ever needs it for the cost of shipping as long as they do the same down the road. |

No, i got the new rotor and my flywheel nut comes in tomorrow (Monday) and I got a 1/4" rod, going to get a bolt and just fab one like yours. Thanks though, photos and such helped a lot so far. |

give yourself more of a handle than I did. I had to twist mine in with needle nose pliers because the portion that I had left to twist was up in side a recess. It was fine but about 3-4 inches of handle behind the bolt would have been perfect. |

Do you want the CAMshaft one or the CRANKshaft one? The CRANK is for the rotor. |

The "pit" in the crank is fairly shallow. The only way to safely lock the crank is to screw the pin into the pit so it stays put. Also without the "locking" threads on the tool, you bugger up the plug threads in the engine case. Bottom line, unless you're a master machinist, buy the tool from EBR or borrow it from someone and be done with it. Don't try to save a few bucks on this tool, it will only bite you in the behind. Ok so putting my. 1125 back together I have this sensor with bosh in green on it and its pluged in but has a bolt hole and what looks should have a tube or hose on the bottom ? Don't remember taking it off anything |
