So, looks like the resistor for my low fuel light it out of spec. Has anyone ever replaced that piece? If so, what one do you need to get to replace it? I know the manual says to replace the fuel pump. Would rather not replace the pump as it is working fine. Other option would be to put one in parallel, though I would prefer to not do that as I can't guarantee that would work well or not. |

After 150 miles time to go fill up. Reset and repeat. Black electrical tape will stop the light from shining in your eyes. |

Wish it would light. It doesn't Means it's drift is now in the upper ohms range. First time I checked it, it read 2200 ohms. (That was with fuel.) |

Are you sure the bulb is good? |

Bulb is certainly fine. Being it likes to light up when the tank is full. Checked the resistance on empty. 2900 ohms. Yeah, that darn thing is out of range. Guess I'll be pulling the pump next week and seeing/being the first to look at replacing the thermistor. |

You won't be the first. Use the search or Google search. I believe it was Zac that wired an potentiometer inline with the signal from the fuel sensor to the ECU. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290431/725519.html (Message edited by noobuel on December 12, 2013) |

Ryan, I don't have the full specs on the XB one, but I just measured one at about 56 degrees F and it read 980 ohms. They're in stock if you think it would help, see http://www.americansportbike.com/shoponline/ccp0-p rodshow/17490.html The 1125 one isn't listed as a separate part, but it looks SIMILAR, not exactly the same. If it looks like it will fit I will order one. Won't know until I pull it and get a good look at it. |

Okay I got the fuel pump in hand and was looking at Als part they look like they are the same part but are you sure it's worth the pain, you will need a 4 inch snap ring tool or it will be a real pain getting the fuel pump out. Mike (Message edited by mhpalin on December 12, 2013) |

Got the equipment to get it out as I had to take my XB's one out to replace the filters about a year ago. I prefer to do the repair the "right" way. Also done want to splice into the wiring if I don't have to. Bikes got 39K on it now anyways, may just go and do the filters while I'm in there. |

You won't have to do any splicing the part will be a snap once you get the fuel pump out it's the brown wire and there is a inline connector.Mike (Message edited by mhpalin on December 12, 2013) |

So, have we decided if the XB sensor works on the 1125? |

Don't know yet. Haven't had a chance to pull the pump. Need to get the fuel level down. Going to ride it today and pull the pump sunday. |

Ok, got the darn thing out. Not to bad. Snap ring is a PITA. Looking at the sensor. It looks a lot like the XB one. Only difference is a ground wire soldered onto it. If my hunch is correct. The XB one only has 1 wire because the grounding is done through the bracket. In the 1125R's case the bracket is plastic. Hence they would need a ground wire. |

Just took a look in the my XB Service manual. The sensor wiring diagram shows it's ground to the assembly/grounding wire. Looking at the pics (mine is an 05 XB) and it uses a metal holder. So, yeah, the sensor there uses the bracket as it's ground. I'm betting they are they same. |

Cool! Thanks for doing the leg work. I have been desperately looking for a better way of fixing it without getting a whole new pump. |

Parts are ordered. Have a few ideas in mind for getting a ground wire attached. One suggestion was a fuse clip. Might try that. |

Ryan - try this stuff : http://www.ebay.com/itm/ALUMINUM-PEWTER-SOLDER-PAS TE-IN-SYRINGE-EASY-TO-USE-7-1-GRAMS-/360723311179 Looks like the same stuff I used to solder a copper wire to a chunk of T6160 Al. Z |

Thanks M. Yeah, if I am right, that part will be the same as the XB one. So far it appears to be. |
