Bike has just over 11k miles, so should have been sorted out. the vin ends in 2975, so it should be late in the model year. Anything I should look at specifically? I really like the bike, but am concerned with reliability, should I be?? I previously had an Aprilia with a 1000cc rotax and loved it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks |

Take the serial # down to your nearest H D dealer that use to sell Buells and they can run it through H D net(I think it's called) and they should be able to tell all the upgrades and recalls that have been done to it.I Have a 08R and it is very reliable so far any ways IMHO. Mike |

I got my 08 1125r with 11000 miles on it too. The only thing is that 12000 miles is the service interval for the valve check. You have to rotate the motor or remove the frame to check the valves. If you are mechanically inclined it takes a day or two to do. My bike has been super reliable (knock on wood) since I have had it. 32000 miles now. |

thanks for the feedback, this is very helpful. I do have the vin, so will call the HD dealer in my area that still services Buell's and see what they can tell me. |

Do it. With the RX hitting the floor soon there may be a few nice 1125R's, all sorted out, available for those of us without deep pockets! Much of the performance for one fifth of the price. |

on the 12000 mile service interval, is it required, or just another way for the service dept to make a few bucks? I know on other bikes I have purchase, it was really not necessary. |

Yes all the ones I have done had tight valves also I did my CR at 12000kms and had to adj. 4 valves,it.s not a hard job just takes time. With the fingers you don't have to remove the cams like my old v-strom and my klr and st1300 way easy compared to the honda PITA Mike |

just called the local harley dealer that used to sell Buell, and they ran the vin. the recall, vent tube recommendation, and ecm upgrade have all been performed. also, there are no notes of any warranty work ever being performed. looks like it might be a good one. |

Look for the clutch slave cylinder weep, it's pretty much universal, and the only problem I've had so far. |

Vt'Max...go here: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/399298.html scroll down for pix - the weep hole is at the "6 o'clock" position - the brake fluid will take off the paint...look for the paint "flaw"...if you're lucky the previous owner had it fixed with the newer cover ( again see pix) you can fix it with this: http://www.erikbuellracing.com/store/parts-accessories/clutch/ebr-clutch-actuator-cylinder-kit.html ...need big snap ring pliers ( and some patience) (Message edited by nuts4mc on December 23, 2013) |

Yes on the clutch there is what we call the puck looks like a puck on the rev A there is a weep hole just under it now if your bike has the rev C the weep hole is in the puck.Go to the top of the page where the rainbow google is hit that and search clutch weep and there will be tons of pics. When you pull in the clutch fluid will come out the hole usually very little comes out some guys have gone all season with this, the fix is the EBR slave cylinder they are in stock right now and are inexpensive and easy to install don't worry about it.First thing you got to do is pick up a FSM from Al at American Sport Bike he usually has them in stock get 2010 one it has all the updated info in it.Have you picked the bike up yet ? Probably not, but if it's actually weepy when you look at it, it couldn't hurt. By no means let it be a deal breaker, guys run tens of thousands of miles with it. I've had to top off my master cylinder once in 8K miles. Just haven't gotten around to it. |

picked it up yesterday. finally warm enough to take it for a test ride. no leaks, just needs a bit of cleaning up. 50 here today, too bad I am heading out of town shortly, or I would be taking it for a ride today. |

no thanks. In the lower midwest, we get around 9 months of riding, and a few odd days over the winter that are warm enough to ride. |

go here: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/369776.html I use the ICE detail stuff that is referenced in the above thread ( gotta use clean micro-fiber cloths) ....really dirty plastic - think windscreen covered with bugs - I use "Gel-gloss" from home depot - it's used to clean fiberglass tubs & showers - smells like turpentine http://gel-gloss.com/index.php?pageId=351 wax - I use Colonite- it's a pain but the bike is small compared to a Fiberglass boat hull... http://www.collinite.com/automotive-wax/insulator- wax/ hope this helps |

I personally believe the 2008's are the best year (other than 2010). As long as it has a 2009 instrument cluster, you shouldn't have any issues. Ride it and enjoy it. |

It did get up to 48 on tuesday, so took it out for a spin. I love the v-twin power, and the handling. much better than my triumph st 1050. I still need to clean it up though. the hose was still frozen, so I couldn't wash and wax it. how would I know if it has an 09 cluster?? |

'09 cluster = gear indicator...'08 don't have that feature...they just drain the battery! |

it does have the gear indicator. could it have been upgraded since it was late in the model year? |

Maybe it came with it but maybe it was replaced who knows but you have the better one I still shut my 09 off with the kill button it doesn't hurt to do it. Mike |
