Anybody else just clean, run a thread cleaner through and red loctite these bitches back on instead of buying new ones? |

Yup about 1 year ago and 20 track days. No problems |

Rear pulley bolts are safe to reuse per the service manual, but the brake rotor bolts require replacement. A pack of 6 OEM rotor bolts is only $12, it isn't worth taking the risk for me. |

Those rotor bolts grade 8 also? All I can find is 5/16 for any info on that. |

While I can appreciate that HD was CYA'n when they stated replacing them, the odds of 6(high grade) bolts having a catastrophic failure at the same time made me feel secure re-using them. |

Most times an OEM says replace bolts it's because they stretch at proper torque. Not the case here on either set of bolts. H-D says replace because they come with threadlocker on the threads, dry. Pull the bolts, beadblast clean (or wire-brush). On re-assembly, add some red loctite and torque. Z |

Hmm ... I thought the SM said to replace cuz they stretched, but they do come with thread lock. Is it for this the same reason it says to replace the front rotor bolts? Or do those actually stretch? It seems kinda silly to toss them instead of dabbing on some permatex |
