I purchased my '08 sight-unseen and really didn't know anything about the model. The PO has apparently tossed the mirrors (with integrated signal lights), installed non-lighted mirrors and routed the wiring to LED bulbs in the marker light housings. I am trying to figure out the rationale behind this mod. Much less visibility, same mirror stalks. Can anyone point me to a thread or just provide a few words of WTF this is about?? |

Previous mirrors probably got damaged or broken in a wreck, or the guy HE bought it from removed the mirrors completely, so he went the cheaper route and got non-integrated mirrors to get by, would be my guess. |

R47 - go here: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/470889.html the OEM mirrors have quite a lot of mass...extend them out on that stalk...and they never stay in place (especially at speed)...a lighter OEM assembly would have been nice...sounds like your set up doesn't have that issue |

The mirrors were my biggest disappointment from day one. Poor image from vibration and impossible to adjust without cracking the glass. I sold them and bought a set of Firebolt mirrors.(Best mirrors EVER IMHO) Then I routed the wiring to the marker lights, bulb no LED for me. Been that way since Feb-Mar of 2008 with no issues. Z |

is this the mirror you refer to Zac? has to be the original XB part i assume...
and, you had to reconfigure the wiring as well? and no blinkers... so, you hooked up the "marker lights" for front blinkers? (Message edited by bubba_ on November 12, 2013) |

No signals
Left turn
@Bubba - yup that's the ones. Early Firebolts had a shorter stem.. you get a great view of your elbows. Z |

i've heard others rave about these XB mirrors. while looking around, i found a group of sport riders putting these on their Suzuki's (or was it Kawasaki..?? i aint sure now, coulda been some other brand) anyways.. people must really like 'em. thanks Zac, for the pics and feedback. i could see me opting for the XB mirrors at some point. i'd need help with the lights i expect.. but, i'll cross that bridge when i get there (Message edited by bubba_ on November 13, 2013) |

My biggest issue with the OEM mirror/signals was two-fold. #1 - they vibrated so bad, I couldn't tell if it was a Soul or a semi coming up on me. NO way I could tell if it was a cop. not good #2 - I have two positions when riding Loretta - semi-upright and full tuck. I NEED the mirrors in both; OEM - no way, you'd break the glass. DAMHIK The wiring change is super-easy, I can help you via phone when you're ready. Look me up in the BRAN listing. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/boar d-auth.cgi?file=/42/42.html&lm=1382708790 I'm in Colorado. Z |
