I'm doing my first WERA race Nov 22, so I'm basking in the joy of safety wiring my 1125r. I used a drill press and ,surprisingly, cheap dewalt titanium 1/16 drill bit($3 for a 2 pack). I was able to use only 1 bit for everything! all bolts and spacers were purchased at ACE and the bits at Home Depot. SO here we go: -The 2 front axle pinch bolts are a cinch. -The rear brake caliper bolts are cake too. -The front brake caliper bolts are recessed in the fork bracket. Solution: longer 3/8 bolts(grade 8!!) and steel spacer cut to size. I drilled holes from the top and the side to feed the safety wire. It was easier than trying to drill through the side of the bolt at an angle..I tried and the bit kept worming, so I came up with the above solution. Pretty easy!   -The rear pinch bolt is recessed too. My solution was to get, yep, a longer M12 bolt(grade 10.9!!) and steel spacer.   I could have, and still might clean it up and trim the spacer and get a shorter bolt, but didn't want to make another trip to ACE hardware and I already drilled holes in the bolt...I drilled 4 holes around the flange of the bolt. Super easy! ANother bnenfit is no longer searching for your hex heads! I like using bolt heads rather than hexs any day of the week...the rub, though, is that you'll need your metric and SAE sockets. The previous owner already had the 30t bolts drilled for the oil filter, dip stick, and drain plugs...thank goodness! I also drilled 2 holes in the rear axle flange on the threaded end. I also drilled holes through the front and rear sliders. Of course I forgot to take pics. My bad. Special thanks to jdugger, rob weaver and general tso!! Now I have to fit the belly pan  Will | ||

I cheat since nobody has ever looked at my rear pinch bolt, which sound unnervingly like something you would find in a store in West Hollywood, safety wire included.  | ||

Your approach is basically the same as mine. I need to take pictures of my quick-release setup for you on the front pinch bolts. Two quick-flip cam levers release the pinch. I've got rear wheels changes down to a single tool and front changes down to just two... |
