Hey Folks, After installing the ERB rotor, a Rick's stator (230 wire vs the 200 stock), and replacing the voltage regulator with a Shindengen FH020AA I have had the system voltage error return. I've tested the stator, voltage regulator, and battery. All of them have tested as they should per the videos on Roadstercycle.com and the numbers everyone else has shared on the forum. Is there another component that I'm missing here? What else could be the cause of my system voltage error at this point? As always, any insight is very helpful. Thank you. |

Is this happening while riding? Probably faulty voltage regulator. Is it happening when cranking to start? Probably weak battery. |

Is the System voltage error for high volts or low volts? If it's high volts, the voltage regulator is likely faulty. If it's low volts, then stator, VR, wiring issues or possibly the battery are all suspect. Do you have the H-D harness/relay fix installed? |

I've got a thread on my CE605SB install a couple down that I think detailed the issue I was having; and the new VR solved it. |

When I start the bike it will get up to 12.5 volts, then sit there. If I take it for a ride it will, after five minutes, give me the "system voltage error" and drop to ~11.7 volts. When I do not have the bike hooked up to the VR and start it, it stays level at 12 volts for several minutes. I do not have the Harley harness. Right now my stator is connected to my VR, and my VR to the battery. No harness applied. Sorry for my late responses to you guys. Been a crazy couple of weeks. Thanks! |

I would test the stator (AC volts) output. 1) disconnect stator from VR 2) start bike and check AC volts at the connecter. Pins 1-2, 1-3, 2-3 at about 3500RPM AC voltage should be equal and about 40Volts AC See what the resting voltage of battery is when the bike is off. If rest battery voltage is good and stator tests okay I would diagnosis this as a bad VR and replace the OEM with something aftermarket ****EDIT: Opps I just read your original post! looks like you already know all this stuff.**** I would guess it is a faulty voltage regulator/rectifier (Message edited by tbowdre on November 18, 2013) |
