Does anyone know or have tried to do the Tail Lift on their 1125r that is made by Diesel Moto? The kit is actually for XB's but I really like the look of it and wasn't sure it if was a waste of time/money. |

It wont work since the upper subframe mounts are different on the 1125 than the xb. They're asymmetrical. It would twist the subframe sideways. |

Mr. Critical on here did a custom splice of extra material to his stock subframe and it turned out nice. I've been trying to get a hold of him, but he hasn't signed on in a good long while. I've got a spare subframe waiting to go under the plasma. :-) FreeSpirits used to make a kit but it is out of production. There is a guy over on BuellXB that is selling just the brackets (leaves a gap between the seat plastics and frame since the kit originally included replacement body work to account for the altered subframe angle.) |

So, update, I was able to do a tail lift on the 1125r with a DIY. I used the same concept as you would on an xb12 with adding in a thin, steel piece with two holes at about 1.5 inches apart. I was able to fit the thin piece between the two mounts for the lower section. Then I did take into account that the top two mounts were offset from each other so I fab'd a cool little spacer for the left side mount so the subframe wouldn't twist. Ill send pics tomorrow of the finished product to get some opinions. Not sure what I think about it, luckily it's not to hard to convert back to stock. |

No, I want to retain the 1125 tail. That is too bobbed for my liking. |

Still think this one is much nicer and more complete looking (but I admit to being biased!). http://www.trojan-horse.co.uk/prods/482.html |

My issue with the Free Spirits kit is that I can't use my translucent airbox cover, and it eliminates the ability to use the storage area under the pillion. I agree that it looks great though. |

I am using just the brackets from the free spirits kit to lift my tail, however I decided to also throw in a twist! Since the brackets give more clearance between the suspension and the undertail, I'm mounting an xb12r undertail to my 1125r to make the tail look less fat. I'm modifying the subframe a little (ie cutting off the battery tray and making a new one placed where the firebolt battery tray is). I have a write up started on buellxb I'll be posting lots of pictures in the next couple weeks if you're interested! |
