I swapped the XB forks/triples etc for 1125 parts a while back. They were a tad sticky when I got them so I figured I should check the oil. The oil is fine but... I unscrewed the blue adjuster all the way first before realizing I'm an idiot and that I turned the preload adjuster all the way out. So I opened them up and found that they have fluid and put them back together. Now... when I hold the front brake and load/unload the front they make a bit of a clunking sound. Somewhat like the sound of the brake rotor moving on the mounts but that's not it. I tried turning the preload adjuster in all the way but that didn't help although it did turn until it stopped... Any ideas? |

Hate to say it but that's normal. You didn't break it. |

There's a plastic seal retainer or something in Showas that supposedly tends to break and clunk, though it doesn't affect the suspension action. |

But not in the XB forks? I rebuilt those a couple times before I swapped to the 1125 front end and never had a problem. The forks seem to work fine... I just assumed that I had unthreaded something that now has a bit of tolerance before the threads start and when the suspension moves it slams the threads together. Quite odd if you ask me. |

I had a 2007 XB12R that never made funny noises from the forks. But my 1125CR, it's made the funny clunking noise since the day I picked it up. Suspension has still been WAY better than the XB. Hell, I'm so used to it I don't even notice it anymore. |
