FWIW I went to a 1/8 mile drag strip this week end on a whim.I highly recomend it.It was a blast! The bike is hard to launch consistantly and there is no forgiveness in the 1/8 mile.My best was 7.06 but I never got a perfect run and am sure a 6.9 something is there if I do my part.Plan on going back next week to try to get into the high sixes.I won the bike class but I was the only bike that day so it was a hollow victoryOn the plus side I couldn't get eliminated so I gotin 6 runs. |

That's pretty good if your bike isn't lowered on just stock suspension and street tires. If you practice you can get to a 6.90 with a stock bike, maybe better. That's all I've done. It's fun and quite a handful. |

I've gotten my CR to a fastest of 7.01 @113 in the 1/8th. That was on a pretty chilly night, so she was running like a scolded dog. That session had an average of 7.15 at 110, depending on reaction times and correct launch. I really want to get into the 6 second range, but they don't like bikes under 7.00 at this track due to lack of runoff space on the big end. I would much rather run canyons than in a straight line, but it's still a lot of fun every now and then. The track is the track, and there's no safer place to ride. |

On my 7.06 run I got a good launch but I had to hit the shifter twice to get into third for some reason.I think I had a high 6 second pass going until that happened.I found I had to line up between the middle and where the rubber was to get a good launch.Too much traction on the rubber and Peggy would reach for the sky and then bog down when I had to let off the trottle. Not enough traction in the middle from whatever the cars left there so finding the best place to start was a challenge.Stock gearing, swing arm and a Corse Rossa tire. |

Example of a proper launch by 2006 AMA Dragbike SS Champion Vince Woska, Jr.: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZyFHrQRPlkw Grant it, not a buell but the rules are the same, proper throttle and clutch management is key to getting a no bar bike down the track successfully. Vince Jr, is my son and he learned to race on a Buell M2 and S1 when he was 14. |

Went back this week end to Kanawha Valley Motorsports Park and did not do so well. The best I got was 7.08 but did get to run all day and had a blast.I felt I was getting better launches but the weather was differant and the staging guy told me everyone was running about a tenth slower than usual. The more I learn the more I realize I don't know |
