I think you will see the base model around $18-19k at dealers, honestly. That's really not so bad for a premium bike, even if it sure is a lot of money for something I'm just going to throw down the track! Also, the one pictured in that link much be a race bike, because it's got a PVM rear wheel on it! |

I think you will see the base model around $18-19k at dealers, honestly. We don't need to speculate too much on the price; it's in print from an interview with Erik himself earlier this year:
quote:This is just the beginning. EBR is launching three new platforms in 2013 — an R version, a Street Fighter and an Adventure series. These three new models will be based upon the EBR-designed and developed 1190cc liquid-cooled twin and will be priced under $19,000.

Probably going to be well over 20k out the door. I wonder how much traction control will cost or if it will be standard? |

It won't have the expensive suspension bits, bodywork or electronics package. I'd guess there will be some small bits of CF but not a lot. I was told $18,900 for the price back in June. Not a bad price for what you'd get, I'll have to wait a while to get one unless I sell off the other 2 bikes. I'm also torn between the RX and SX, I'm kinda leaning to the SX for a more upright seating position, although wind protection is why I got my 1125. |

> i hope they dont have traction control. what a waste of good bikes. Man, I'm not sure I agree. The good systems are nothing short of incredible. The let the bike slide and everything... but don't let it go too much... |

TC is pretty much de rigueur these days. A bike at that price point not having it would be a mistake. |

TC is pretty much de rigueur these days. With Superbike racing rules changing towards Superstock rules all over the world they really need to have all the bells and whistles fitted in order tohomologate thebike for worldwide competition. Some rules forbid the fitting of 'aftermarket' TC and engine management systems, so they have to use what the factory fitted initially. if EBR don't fit TC, anti wheelie, fly by wire throttle etc they could miss a big slice of the race market and the publicity that goes with it. |

Don't want TC? Just turn it off. i know on some of the stuff ive ridden its not an option. if EBR don't fit TC, anti wheelie, fly by wire throttle etc they could miss a big slice of the race market and the publicity that goes with it. its the fastest way of neutering a bike... ^People have always said the same thing about ABS, and we know how that argument always ends. |

Yea, with your bike in the kitty litter when it fails unexpectedly! |

The simple fact is, if you don't have electronics on the stocker, you can't run them in any SBK spec class. Simple fact # two, any other bike in the 20K price range is going to have TONS of electronic gee-wizardry, and the EBRs will need it from a sales standpoint. On the Panigales, even the suspension adjustments are electronic. Being the type of engineer that Erik is, I can't seem him putting that stuff on the bikes without being able to turn it off. |

All I can say is after riding an S1000RR all summer with abs, traction control, shift assist....it will be hard to ride a bike without it. I was against all that at 1rst but now I really like it. Getting on a bike without all those things is like stepping back in time. You think you dont want it and youll turn it all off but I bet you dont after you try it. The ultimate bike for me would be a 185MPH EBR with traction control, abs and shift assist. |

I had TC on my 600 when I had it, too. Bazaaz. It took a while to get it dialed, but once there it was amazing. You could literally just pin the throttle on the way out of a corner. The rear end would still spin up a little... but not too much. Makes a real man out of sorry ass riders like myself.. |

I could see that....the SV 650 track guys would go back and forth with 600 I-4's. The 600 supersports handled better, but they couldn't get any drive off apex, to make any torque they had to wind them up so high they would be on the ragged edge of breaking the rear out, constantly. They were either "slower on the faster bike" or it just wasn't any fun, they went back to the wee SV. I could imagine pinning an R6, haveing it scream through a turn with just a hair of a slide...I even had a guy tell me he couldn't keep his SV1K hooked up and went back to the 650. A month before I lost the rear on mine and wadded it I cannot wait to get the 1125 on a track... |
