The output shaft seal (behind the front pulley) was leaking on my bike last year. I installed a new one, it was OK for a while but is now leaking. Any ideas on what the issue is? The only things I can come up with are defective materials or improper installation. I don't think the installation was improper because if so, it likely would have started leaking right after I replaced it. Any knowledgeable advice is appreciated.

This is the first time I have ever heard of an 1125 having this problem, Only things that can really make a seal leak are pressure / damaged seal / incorrectly fitted seal / damage to the surface it runs against or play in the shaft bearings.

I think mine has developed this issue as well (Dec '07 build) after about 20k miles. Haven't pulled things completely apart to verify though. Cravacor, what was involved in replacing the seal?

Take off belt, take off pulley, remove old seal, install new seal. It's not a big job. If the oil is leaking onto your kickstand, it is probably this seal.
There is a thread in here from when I did it last time with a few pics.

I did mine last year I bought 2 seals when I got it though cause you know it's a Buell thing. Anyway the only thing I can think of is the fine powder friggen salt turns into and gets all over everything in the early season getting in there otherwise I got nothing.

I have the same problem with shaft seal. Already replaced this year with no result. Still leaking... Will try get another seal or two and inspect surface. Leaking only when engine is off so it's not pressure thing.

So is this a sign that even the Rotax engine can't stand the overtight belt tension and the output bearings may be starting to fail?

You need a Willybuell sprung tensioner...

Bringing this thread back...
I have finally gotten around to replacing the seal again. Just took everything off yesterday. The new seal is at the stealer, I'll pick it up today.
I have examined the pulley carefully. There is a very faint wear ring on the pulley where it rides on the seal (it can be seen but not felt), but no damage to seal or pulley that I can see. Looks like the last time I installed the seal I may have driven it in too far because the edge of the seal is slightly recessed, not flush with the engine case. Going to make sure it is flush with the engine case this time. Any other ideas/recommendations as to why this thing is leaking again?
