So, I noticed today that my temps were climbing into the 200F range which isn't normal. Checked the fans and while the right one was running full blast, the left one was not. Yet, there is no check engine light. I know the light is good as it comes on when the key is turned on. So, ways to check the fan? Anyone had this happen?

Not me personally but I recall a recent thread on this

it begs the question, does ECM Spy or any other program allow exercising of the fans for testing ?

I had a fan that started to spin much slower then the other one. No CEL. Doubt there is a monitor for that. Changed the fan and all has been fine since then.

I had the problem of my left fan not working but mine threw a code. Mine turned out to have been just the plug working it's way loose. I found it when I took the left pod off below where the ecu is mounted. It's a simple two wire plug.

Tested my left fan by applying 12V to it from the battery. Nothing. OHM test across it shows .008 resistance. Not certain if it should have that. Did notice some corrosion on the outside plug (very little and not on the contacts). So, test that with a resistance test and showed 0 resistance. So that is no the issue. Looks like it's internal. Just went ahead and ordered a fan from Surdyke. Running the bike on 1 fan for now. No long trips, just to school and back.

Still no code even with the fan disconnected. Odd. I did check the plug on the bike though to ensure voltage is being supplied. From the bike across the plug I am getting 13V (bike running and heated up.).

Cat:
Keep an eye on your coolant. Bike will be boiling it off with only one fan cooling.

I certainly have been watching the temp. Moving is not a concern. Just getting stopped in traffic. I plan my routes to go with as few stop lights as possible.
