I started work on stator/EBR Rotor upgrade on my '09 1125R this afternoon. After removing the stock exhaust can, I am thinking that it will not be going back on. Any thoughts on HMF slip on and EBR ECM or other recommendations in a similar price range? Prefer slip on that sounds good, but is not too loud. | ||

The only aftermarket system that isn't crazy loud is the barker, and no offense to them but I think it sounds like crap compared to the others, which are waaay too loud for the suburbs. | ||

And: "All the aftermarket pipes are crazy loud btw" Posted before but here ya' go: That is pretty true BUT; any exhaust system can be quieted somewhat without a sacrifice in air flow. These two systems do WORK period: "www.carchemistry.com/cc-inserts/" and: "www.dynatechheaders.com/access_vortex." They were carefully engineered for drag racing, especially open header cars and econo dragsters in urban areas that have noise restrictions. Read about their engineering but then you might have to fabricate your own as they are generally made for larger diameter pipes. You can buy simple materials from McMaster Carr industrial supply and adjust the size for your particular application. Also, most "inserts" do not work and are too restrictive to quiet things down and not loose power/air flow. I made a cone type for my own system which uses a short straight thru 2 1/4" I.D., 3"x14" glass packed muffler totally under the engine and clears my lower full fairing nicely. I gutted the rear chamber on my stock exhaust and added a tip off of a Corvette. Doesn't look all that great (according to others) but I liked it. The performance impreovement were mind boggling. I also added the HMF race ecm. This thing added so much torque I could barely hang on when I wacked the throttle. The NOID saved my ass twice. My Drummer was a tad too loud for the neighborhood, so I rolled up a 2' x 14" piece of SS screen I had and stuck it inside. Mellowed the sound just enough.    <edit> Now you got me thinking. I'll do a couple of dyno runs with the screen in then pull it out for a couple more... Gotta get my power back... (Message edited by zac4mac on August 07, 2013) | ||

Another recommendation for Dean Adams here. I picked up a KEDA RT3 in April and absolutely LOVE IT. Best investment I've made on the bike hands down. It commands attention wherever you go, and sounds damn good doing it. (If you're not in for something loud, skip it. I often ride with earplugs if I'm going out to rip around the town, and my GF often rides with ear plugs on the long hauls) |
