Hey guys I'm new here so I'll start out with some background. I have a 2009 1125cr with about 3500 miles. The stator went bad at about 2500 miles and I repaired it with a Ricks rewind and EBR rotor. The bike had the stator relay harness, the relay was fried so I removed the whole harness. Also at this time I installed an FMF slip on and corresponding EBR ECU. Everything was good for about 500 miles and then the Voltage Regulator went. Replaced with stock regulator and it was back up and running. That brings us up to this point; A coolant leak from the clutch cover gasket meant rotating the engine down to gain access to the rear header nuts. While I was at it I replaced the clutch cover and water pump assembly with the upgraded cover/water pump. Now the PROBLEM. I get all the work done, and the bike all buttoned up. As far as I can tell I have all connectors in the right place. So I hook up the battery, turn on the ignition, the instrument cluster comes on like normal, fuel pump on, hit the starter, and... nothing. The starter doesn't crank, nothing. The bike was in neutral but I try rolling it to check anyway, it rolls, I hit the front brake and then it gets weird. When I pulled the lever the headlights come on and I hear shrill beeping/honking noise coming from the starter/ ignition relay block. I pop off the cover and put my hand on the relays, pull the lever again and I can feel the relays vibrating. Before I did the engine rotation/ water pump repair, I'd never had any issues like this. So that's where I'm at. I don't know crap about wiring and electrical, so help would be appreciated. (Message edited by lx8 on July 22, 2013) |

Check and make sure all your connections are good. Make sure that all connectors are connected to the correct location. A bad ground will make a lot of wierd things happen. |

1)relays should not vibrate 2)the black relay is a "common" head light relay for autos....but before you replace it try... a) check the battery for a full charge (12+volts) b) check the battery terminals - are they tight? c) like Shawn suggested - chk your grounds...the one under the tail section on a 6mm stud ( 10mm nut) and the ones up by the steering stem (head stock) d) try removing and re-seating the black relay. e) Euro-spec bike have a kick stand switch ...on US models the wires are there but not connected to anything - may want to look for the pigtails on the engine pulley side and make sure you did't pinch them/short them. hope this helps |

Well I told you I didn't know anything about electrical; I never connected the ground on the negative battery cable. Hooked it up and she fired right up. Thanks Shawn and Nuts for trying to help. |

Glad to hear it was a simple fix...electricity is kinda like plumbing you have to connect all the fittings to make it flow....enjoy the ride! |
