I've noticed a noise coming from the right side of my 1125cr during idle. It's just below the water pump area. It's not excessively loud, but it almost sounds like something's rubbing. The bike runs great, and does not seem to get louder as you rev it. Anyone have any thoughts on what may be causing this?

There was an upgrade to one part of the cam chain guides for 2010, to retain more oil on the chains for quieter running. F0058.1AMB
The part number is the same for both front and rear cylinders.

Basically how much work is involved to change to the new cam chain guides? Assuming that is the noise problem.

The way to check for cam chain guide wear is drop the penta-plate (motor screen cover) and motor screen from the bottom on the next oil change.

If you see little black bits of plastic in there -- generally it will have a shaved appearance -- it's getting close to time for them.

If the screen is clear, it's something else.

The other thing that can cause it, if the noise is a bit of a "chuff", is the rotor nut coming loose. It seems counter-intuitive, but the rotor nut backing off can cause noise all over the motor.

Both are inexpensive things to check, so order up a new oil filter, electrical cover gasket, and go take a look.

The rotor nut is a pretty easy fix. The cam chain guides are a fair bit more work.

That is a great course of action. Thanks.
