There are blind driveways on that turn, he was not passing anything contrary to what they reported. He did not lose control until he hit the SUV, the SUV impact is what did the majority of the damage at least on John's end. |

It sounds like he bounced off the front of the SUV trying to get around it, and that forced him into the oncoming lane. If he was any kind of rider, there won't be any skid marks, as he would've grabbed a handfull up front, and then leaned it over to try to get around the SUV. Even if he did stab the rear, it may not have locked up due to the pilion's weight. Hell I can slide my rear a long ways at low speed. It always makes long streaks and makes it look like the bike was flying.
He probably was speeding, which didn't give him enough room to react to the blind driveways. That's something you just learn to look out for with experience after a few near misses. God knows I crashed that way a few times when I started out. Still, that in no way negates the car pulling out in front of him. Then again, maybe he wasn't speeding.
Were there even any eye whitnesses? Speed is relative. A sportbike can accelerate and then decelerate again in a heartbeat compared to a cruiser or a car. Unless you've been on one you can't really judge. Again, not good for our collective reps, and cops LOVE to chalk everything up to speed....it adds to statistics, which enables more speed enforcment....which pads the tax base.
Contrary to the "ear whitness", he could've pegged it on the straight, especially with a passenger, and had plenty of time to slow back down. Yeah you ride, but you ride slow.
His comment will back up the "I pulled out but he was going way too fast" argument from the cager, true or not, and that does happen all the time.
This sucks.
EDIT- Just got the video to work... with the video of how that road is and the whitnesses, it just doesn't look good. "Road rash all over his body"...I hope he had some gear on.

There were eye witnesses, but I'm assuming that was the person that went to the hospital in shock. Probably his father, it looked like his bike in the video anyway. The media just flat out stopped reporting any of it though, so I'm waiting to actually hear back from him. |

i mean, the original post says to keep your friend in your prayers....but what about the completely innocent rider that got hit due to his bike?

It was one of my low seats I gave him a couple days before. Yes he had an S tail on it.
I have absolutely no information on the 67 year old lady on the other bike that was sent to the hospital. If I find out about her I will post up, but I believe her injuries had more to do with abrasions from the pavement. |

...because your boy crashed and his bike hit hers.
watched the video - the guy with his boy claiming 100mph sounds like an idiot.
maybe they were. maybe they werent. but there is no way that he could accurately guess the speed of the bike |

I wasn't making light of his bike being a cause of her injuries, just stating what I was aware of as to her injuries.
I agree about the guy in the video. There were absolutely no skid marks at the scene the next day and if he was going that fast you'd have more visible evidence and that bike wouldn't have stayed together as well as it did. |
