I recently traded my CR for a S1000RR. I miss the torque of that monster vtwin. Im still breaking in the engine so havent gone past 8000 rpms. Maybe once they remove the rev limiter after the break in Ill see more torque in the upper rpms. The RR really makes power in a different way. I like the riding position better. The shift assist is nice. I havent really had a chance to try out the traction control (that I know of). Its funny how you get used to a bike and try another one and it takes a while to adjust to it. The S1000 is pretty much gutless below 7000rpm, comes on good from 7-10, and takes off like a bat out of hell from 10-14. Like the Enterprise going to warp. You're definitely in for an eye-opening experience. I babysat an S1000 for a year for a friend who was deployed overseas and I only put a couple hundred miles on it because the lack of low-end power made it suck for anything less than plain ol' ass hauling. | ||

I have had this argument/discussion so many times on my "normal" sportbike board. Don't even try it on the R1 board lol. It's hard to beat a twin for rideability...I like to let my friends ride the 1125, opens their eyes a bit. That being said, the S1000RR is niiiice. But yeah, probably pretty boring as a commuter. | ||

It's a bit stronger now that the rings have seated a little. I get the 8000 rpm rev.limiter removed next week, so ill get to see what its like above that. Really enjoying the shift assist. The lights absolutely suck and I do most of my riding out in the county at night. I have to get some hid's or something. I would have thought it would have had them considering how advanced it is. | ||

The thing with the headlights surprises me, maybe you can have them adjusted? Keith Code uses the S1000RR at the Cali Superbike School now, he used Kawisaki 600's forever. He says the electronics are so good he can put brand new riders on it in neutered mode and it's as good as a straight 600, and have them running in race mode by the end of the track school. That's a hell of an endorsement. |
