Lost four teeth last Sunday while riding two up.I cut off the teeth and it held together to get me home.It had a little over 14,000 miles of mostly hard roads and six track days on it.Al at American Sportbike sent me a new one second day air and it was pretty easy to install.Al and Joanne have been very good to me and if I have money and they have the part, they get my money: )I highly recommend them.Just saying.

That's the first I've ever heard of one failing. Is this common?

I've had them last 25,000+ miles, and I've had them last less than 1,000.

If you've never heard of a belt failing you are either blind or new here! : D

Broke one on my Ulysses at 41k miles last weekend while accelerating hard in 1st gear while two up and loaded down

Broke the one on my 1125CR last month, it had a decent hole in it from a stone I picked up at least 8000 miles before it broke when I was trying to do a quick wheelie at 20k miles

Broke one on my Lightning Long at 30k, I just had got a brand new belt and was going to do it that weekend anyway, but it broke when pulling out of a corner with the front wheel starting to come off the ground

My Blast has something going on, possibly damaged sprockets, first belt lasted 16k miles, belt 2 didn't even make it a full tank of gas, I haven't driven more than a mile since putting the 3rd belt on but it is seriously overdue for tires.

My 1125R is at 20k miles on the original belt, so far so good. They seem to last forever as long as you are not trying to get the front wheel off the ground.

A- New here.

B- Also dumbern' hell. I was thinking of the drive sprocket. Dyslecix.

He said four teeth and I made the intuitive (and incorrect) logical leap to sprocket teeth. D'oh!

C- Froggy, didn't I run into you at Lowes last summer? I think you got me in here....

05 lightning 1200, broke at around 8000.
08 1125r broke around 8000 as well, however i did remove the belt guard about 1000 miles before this so that is probably the reason.

I don't think the belt guard has anything to do with it, everyone takes them off the track bikes. Unless maybe you did something to the tensioner.

But again, noob/dumbern'hell.

The big problem with the belt drive at the track is tire boogers get all up in it and stretch the belt out. The guards don't seem to help with this problem, but they do make tire changes more difficult, so I removed them.

What I've found is it's actually best to get a low-mileage street belt instead of putting a brand new belt on a track bike. Once they have stretched just a little, they will last longer on track duty than a brand-new one broken in on the track will.

Mine blew at 16k on my R.
Thinking now I'll just change it every 15k or so to not get stranded again.

That's a good idea, we could all start changing out belts at 15-20K, and send them to Jdugger. He can put Badweb 1125R Board stickers on his swingarm as a drive belt sponsor.

Just sayin'.
