Yesterday, I was ran off the road by a school bus coming around the corner headed toward me. He was halfway in my lane and I didn't give myself the cushion I needed to deal with something like that happening. I went wide, hit a wall, and then the bike slid down the road on its left side. I am relatively fine. Some road rash on my lower back, and general soreness. I'm not looking to talk much about the crash, right now I like to think it wasn't my fault, but I certainly should have known better. I'm sick to my stomach that this has happened and I just want to move on. The frame is broken where the triple tree mounts up. My best guess is that the front wheel hit the wall and the forks torqued the TT and the frame and busted out the top part of the frame where the TT mounts. The list that I can see I'll need to replace is: frame fairing mounting bracket front wheel forks normal stuff from a left side low side. Though, It looks like that's all cosmetic, but I'll replace it anyways. My biggest problem is the frame, what can I do about that? There's a chunk missing out of it, can a Harley dealer get me a new one? There's one on ebay for about $700 right now, but I'd really like to get one in very good condition. What are my options for a new frame? |

New they were about 2x that I think. Not sure if you'll be able to get one very easy at this point from hd, they made Buell toss a bunch of stuff into the dumpster. |

In order to get one from hd, you'll need to send yours in. Or at least the vin tag. I went eBay for mine. It was a really nice unit besides the red powder coat. That sucked to clean up, but looks great now! Make sure of your state laws on the title you should get with the new frame. Mine came with a salvage title, here that means I had to have it inspected and paperwork before getting a plate. Get a new set of triple trees, if it bent a fork leg, the trees are done as well. Mine hit a deer at 80 mph. |

I thought that HD said that there were no more frames available ? You could try EBR, they may be able to help. |

Salvage/repo. A lot of times you can buy a rolling chassis for a couple of grand or so at auction. Part the stuff you don't need and come out for a few hundred bucks. I have one I picked up from a certified destroyed a while back sitting on a shelf just in case. |

I recently bought a new frame from the dealer, so they are or were still available. |

E-mail dusty@roninmotorworks.com for a few of your parts, You should be able to get the fairing brackets, fors, and tripple trees from him. |

I had to replace a frame on an XB a few years back when HD still had frames. The dealer did some paperwork and slagged my old frame and a new one with my original vin arrived from the factory. I know those days are long gone, I hope that when the 7 years is up EBR starts remaking parts for older buell's since we all know harley will dissavow all memories of buell. |

Dear Sir The reason I 'lol' to that was the first guy states he just got a new frame from dealership, while a post under his states that he bought a frame from the dealer a few years ago 'when HD still had frames' making it seem that they no longer do - contradicting the first quote. its funny to me, people trying to pass off 'truth' when there is other proof that will show that its not correct. thats all. it made me laugh. still does. |

My frame from the factory had my original VIN, something I know they can't do anymore since they are no longer making frame. How would that work off tyhe shelf from a dealer that has it in stock. RIF! |

That is not true to the best of my knowledge. You can still get new frames, including ones with your VIN on them. |

They probably have a warehouse full of franks and just press new VIN plates when ordered. @Hybrid- That's what I figgered, I just didn't know enough to know which statement was which. Noob. @Solson- You could probably sell your "cosmetic damage" frank for race part.... (Message edited by sir_wadsalot on July 10, 2013) |

Even though it's a frame AND a tank, it's still just called the FRAME. We all ride Buells, so we know frames hold fuel. Oh crap, I got up on a soapbox. I'm down Z |
