So the HD place doing my 12k service just called to tell me they think the CEL/low fuel is because of a bad fuel pump and say it will be about $480 to replace. Is this about correct? I figured the lights were due to a bad IC since it stays on almost all the time but will shut off once and awhile. Seems like a LOT of cash to me....... |

Parts/labor, yeah I can see that. I think the pump is $300+ and it would take a couple of hours to remove/replace the pump probably. I'd just do it myself though, pull the rear wheel, swingarm and then the pump. You'd need a lift or strap the bike to the ground to keep it stable though. |

The LFL/CEL issue is either due the pump or the cluster, depending on when it happens. $480 including labor sounds pretty good, but as it does not affect how the bike runs I personally wouldn't bother. Also, if it doesn't fix the issue because it may be your cluster, you can bet they won't eat the cost of the pump replacement. |

480 isn't bad. I'm debating whether I think my pump is going out, I plan on doing some basic service for it and see if it solves some of the issues I'm having. I was considering replacing the pump myself but I really do not have the capability to do something like that at my apartment complex. |
