Hi guys, After last summer spent fighting with a dead/dying bike, being left stranded at gas stations, leaving my bike on a charger 24/7, I'm thinking of selling my beloved Gertie. Stats: 09 White 6000kms EBR ECM SoloBuell Belly Pan Jardine slip on ASV levers, Rizoma bar ends Undertail and LED tail light Had her stator replaced once with a new crappy stator by Harley. I have NONE of my stock parts anymore, thanks to a divorce and p!ssed off ex husband (no rear footpegs as a result too). I have NO Harley dealer close to me to touch the thing, and the one 400kms away just wants to put another Harley stator in it, at my cost. So I'm looking at probably 1000 to get her fixed 'right', by private mechanic. WHat would YOU sell for? I paid $9000CAD for her in 2010. Plus the add ons. Would you take $7000 cash?? |

Wellllll Whippetlovr, since you asked, and only because you asked, I don't think I paid $7k (tax in)for mine new from Barrie HD.... so yes I would take it if I was offered it. Given the problems you are having, and IF you are not doing work on the bike yourself, I would trade her in on a kaw/suki/onda - something with a wider support/dealer network. It can get pretty lonely being stranded up there! |

Just for reference, I bought my 2009 1125R from a harley dealer in Vancouver BC for $7500 cad taxes in with 4500km. There were no stator issues when I bought it, nor have I experienced any |

Oh and is the "new stator" that the dealer wants to put in covered under warranty? Its better to fix the bike yourself then try and sell it. I think it would be much easier that way as people dont want to deal with a broken bike right from the start. The issue could lie within the voltage regulator, the harness recall update, or just a bad battery |

Yeah, I'd have to check my bill of sale but I think I paid $8900 for mine, because it was the last white one in Canada, and the dealer knew it. Oh well.. better than 16K! And the 'new stator' Barrie HD wants to put in is NOT under warranty. All on my dime. No thanks. I'm looking at either a 2009 Aprilia RSV4 with 2000kms or a 2011 Triumph Daytona. I'd feel safer with Japanese but I just dont like the looks of any of them after 07 or so. I have a standing offer for $7000. He started at 6500, I said no, he's at 7000 now. He wants it... this weekend! (Message edited by whippetlovr on April 23, 2013) |

As I recall, Vincent had many "issues" back in the day--now it is nearly impossible to find one for less than 100K! |

I countered at 7200, he's thinking. If he doesnt reply with a yes to the 7200, I think I'll say OK to the 7000. EVERYONE is telling me to ditch it. |

Just from a personal experience point of view, you mentioned what sounds like an annoying (at least) divorce, the sooner you get the Buell gone and get a new motorcycle the more you'll be moving on. Let it go. $200 ain't worth it. |

The divorce has nothing to do with me selling the bike at all :P And I've moved waaaaaay on already LOL Its more sentimentality holding me back, as I loved the bike back when I trusted it and had naive dreams of support from Harley! |

Get that bike out of your sight...!!! ASAP Let mine go last year. I'm still missing her but my 06 Honda Cbr1000rr does a great job taking the pain away. I also thought I would get love and respect from Harley... BAWAHAAAAAAHAHAHAHAH |

I've had a multitude of "gee, I wish I hadn't gotten rid of that" moments. (1947 Indian Chief, 1973 Servicar-bone stock, 1971 Sportster-also bone stock, down to the white Elvis banana seat). If you love "Gertie" tough it out! Very few motorcycles will EVER have the same "charm" or personality! You have to learn "what fits what" from other venues. Much of these bikes are interchangeable and can be sourced from other venues. The "boys" at EBR can be an enormous help! Just my "two and a half cents. |
