I purchased the EBR rotor, and replaced the stator. Finally after the install she was back to charging normal, and rode normal for about 30 min, then all of sudden came the P0339 code "CRNK POS SENSOR SYS ERR" I have never had the slightest hint of this problem before. I cleared all codes using scanner, i then disconnected batt for 10 min., then reconnected and rode. Again it did fine for about 5 miles then the sputtering and misfiring came back, worse than before. It only does this on Low RPM/ partial Throttle, if i crank to wot or wind her up it pulls just fine, but there is NO partial throttle/low rpm cruising that can be done at all, without the worst misfire ive ever felt on any bike. Has anyone else had this issue after installing EBR rotor? I am thinking, after doing a little poking around on here, that possibly i was sold a Modified rotor that was one of the rotors with "Incomplete Machining of rotor teeth" . I never knew of this issue before i had problems and searched, otherwise i would have double checked the rotor before installation. I have called EBR , and like normal i still have no response. I do normally get a response but it can be WEEKS after i call., before i get one. Any info. or Insight from others will be appreciated |

The CKP sensor is the one you have to move to get to the rotor. Make sure it is fully seated in the case and the wire is connected. Z |

I double and tripled checked last nigh, everything is, as it should be from the outside. I just find it funny that i never had this issue at all, until my rotor was swapped with used/modified one from EBR. Now my stator was melted almost beyond recognition, but before i replaced it, i could charged the battery the bike would still run perfect until the battery voltage dropped to low. and it never threw a Crank position Sensor code then. But it happened about 30 min after initial install, and about 5 miles after every battery disconnect and ride, the bike is now unrideable unless the CEL light is on. If the sensor is the problem, wouldn't the bike fail to even start? |

P0339 is "Crank position sensor circuit intermittent". The device has two wires that go to the ECM and a black ground wire. Other DTCs are P0337 "Crank position sensor circuit low" and P0338 "Crank position sensor circuit high". If you are not getting either of these, then you should double check the two wires to the ECM and especially the black ground wire for continuity and a solid clean connection to the engine for the black wire at the ground point. An Electric Diagnostic Manual explains it as follows: "Check for intermittent connection, pinched or damaged wires, and loose CKP sensor fasteners." If any of these are found, repair as necessary. But that's just the start of the diagnostics. |

FWIW, I did leave my Recall harness connected, is there any way that can cause a problem? |

followed all the wires, started bike and wiggled all the wire while running, it didnt make any difference in the miss. i pulled the cps, annd it looked clean and good. it is leaning more and more toward the rotor not being machined all the way, i would think. anybody have any more input, or a full copy of the rotor tsb with pictures? |

It turns out that the rotor from EBR racing was not fully machined according to the TSB B-089. The dealer printed the tsb off in full color, which has a picture of both a improperly machined rotor, and a properly machined rotor. Here is picture of the rotor i recieved from EBR.

I just received a call back , and EBR ( in all the glory i have heard spoken of them), is taking all the steps necessary to remedy the problem. I cant thank them enough for stepping up and helping, rather than stepping to the side and calling it my problem. |

They are great... They are fixing my improperly machined rotor as well.. One problem after another it seems.. I hope this will be the last problem I have but after reading this board I doubt it. |

Nobody said buying American made was easy. Erik has a history of picking weird engines; Barton, HD Sportster, and Rotax. |

Funny Danny, I don't mind it not being easy but does it have to cost so much. I bought the Buell because the price was right but after all the money I've had to put into it the price is starting to be wrong.. Every time I try to be frugal it bites me in the ass. Love the ride ergonomics of the bike over the others but the cost for the ride it getting way to expensive. If I have to fix one more thing it's getting sold. Least that's what the wife said. |

Jonesgw - I completely agree. I am glad to see the used parts market is so reasonable. I got trained on the money pit issue with my 96 S1. I don't even want to know now much I have sunk into it in the the last 16 years. The bike has over 100K miles and everything is fresh except the bottom end. I enjoy it almost every day. The CR gets used for special undisclosed location weekend rides with incredible twisties and no traffic to speak of. My riding buddy has a new zx14r. He was faster than me in High School and 40 years later he still is! |

I'm shocked that some of you actually tell your wives how much you spend on bikes. Despite her earning considerably more than me, I always covert prices to 'Wife Pounds' before telling her anything...........and she has the good grace to pretend to believe me |

LoL!!! Trust me, she only hears what she needs to, divided by half.. :-) Danny, I really love the 1125 so I might give it another two brake downs. I wish I had some winding roads to take.. I'm in the Middle East and not many winding roads to speak of.. Wishing I was riding the the back roads to Virginia.. |
