Has anyone ever tried to modify Ulysses' bag brackets to fit the 1125r? I think that with a little thought process it would be a good shape to start with. |

You'd be better off finding hepco-becker brackets for a Lightning, and putting them on an 1125. Still a different tail section, but more similarities than the Ulysses. |

RedBuell, Just a thought - The Uly Hepco-Becker bags use the rectangular mounting loop that is universal to all Hepco-Becker bags, so since you are going to modify them anyway, find a cheap used set for any bike on the interwebs. Also for anyone who might not know, as far as Buell Ulysses Hepco-Becker mounts go, there are 2 kinds: the ones for the big Journey cases and the ones for the Juniorcases(Buell called them Sportsman, and they came on the police version of the Uly). The only difference is that the latch bar is on front for the Journey bags and on the back for the Junior bags. If you Google Images "Ulysses" and the names of any of the kinds of Hepco-Becker cases, like "Xplorer" or "Gobi" or "Journey" or "Junior" and you will find all kinds of info that will be helpful for figuring out which way to go. The picture of my XB on my profile shows the Junior mounts look like. sincerely, BernHardbags |

Interesting I just purchased a set of uly bags with brackets and have been looking at how to mount them with out making a hacked up mess of the original tail, tray or frame.. I have been thinking about what ccrider, did with his Givi setup, and looking at the tail structure and body work. still just thinking though, a set of bolt in mount blocks is one idea, a bolt on rail is another |

Redbuell, it just so happens, I was at a swap meet today in Maryland and came across a set of old Hepco-Becker Junior 40 liter bags and small top-case and mounts. the bags were in sorry shape, but I bought them because I could use them and I know I can source parts to fix them up: But it immediately occurred to me that someone wanting racks to modify could put these to good use (since I do not need the racks). If you, or anybody, are interested could PM me and I will email pictures of them back to see if you think they are do-able. I would want $50 bucks plus shipping. |

Stripped the tail section this evening to start looking at mounting ideas, any one have pix of lightning mounts? I have a set of uly mounts un molested as of now, I have removed the passenger foot rests and body work including the tray wondering if there is a way to use the mounts with just the lower forward bar removed. My thinking is running to a bar that mounts outboard of the tail that the bags mount on where I want them they may be too low and have swing arm clearance issues |

Oldog, here is a good picture: http://www.moto24.de/hepco-becker-lock-it-seitentr aeger-buell-lightning-xb-9-sx.html or google images: "Buell Hepco-becker" and all kinds of links show up. you are right that the Lightning racks would be the closest/easiest to retrofit to the 1125s, though you lose the ability to comfortably carry any of those hitchhiking babes in hotpants that are everywhere and constantly wanting to ride on your beast. They will be forced to keep their high heels resting on your airbox... |

hitchhiking babes in hotpants that are everywhere and constantly wanting to ride on your beast. LOL hitchhiking babes in depends maybe ..... ( Im a little old for that ) The foot peg mounts for the passenger are good bolt on points, Plate Light bracket mounting point is a good place to start. |

Some test mounts, Neil (CCryder) used tubing following the tail lines, I may wind up cutting the mounting bosses off and doing the same, The cases need to tuck in closer, the height is about right as is the angle, the mounts are aly plate 5/16 and too light for use at load, the plate carrier does not fit as of now, it is a step forward ...
not bad a recip saw, and a small drill press time to sleep... |
