Hi,

How do i check if my stator is putting out the required amount?

32-amp, permanent magnet, 3-phase, solid-state alternator with solid-state regulator (432W @ 7000 rpm, 432W peak)

How do i test this?

Thanks

Dre

The details are in your electrical diagnostic manual, but you use a multimeter, and disconnect the stator from the voltage regulator, then you test the pin to pin AC voltage on all 3 pins. I forget the exact spec, but if you are not seeing at least 40 volts on each of the 3 pins then you have a problem.

Yeah I dont have the Manual,

So at least 40 volts then.

Thanks

The first connector coming from the stator is on the left side, under the rider's seat - 4 position, three populated.
There are three pins in the shell, one each for phases A, B, & C.
When repalcing stator, pull pins/sockets from plug shell - upon re-assembly, there is no polarity.
Just make sure you don't put a wire in the ONE unpopulated position.

Power off tests: around .8 Ohms phase to phase.
Any phase to ground - Infinite resistance, OL, totally open circuit.

Motor running - AB, AC, BC(see 2nd line in my post)
37-53 VAC at 2000 rpm (IIRC, will check and add exact numbers tomorrow). books at work...

I had Ricks do mine. They aren't far from you in NH.

I got only 20 VAC @ 2000rpm. My bike is 2008. I opened the stator cover and cheked the stator, no significant marks about burn or anything. What could be wrong?

Soum, The 08 has a lower output,so yours sounds fine. I think that's about what I got when I tested my 08 stator/rotor setup.

It should be noted that you really do need to check all three combinations. The voltages seen should be close to being the same on each combination. You are measuring a vector summation of all three legs each time.

The check is roughly 39VAC @3k rpm on the '08. 20 @ 2k sounds about right.
