My 2009 1125 appears to be charging fine at the moment with all stock parts though I have the EBR rotor on hand for install soon.
I have noticed that when I hook the battery tender up after the bike sits for a couple days following a ride, it takes about an hour and a half to reach full charge. I think it is ok as the tender is just a small trickle charge but just curious if that is normal. Is there an electrical drain due to a security system? I just got the bike a couple months ago and see a security light on the dash during startup but don't really know much about that. thanks
Mort

08s had a parasitic drain issue.
09 should have a VERY small current when off to power the clock in the IC.

There's a spec in the Electrical manual, don't remember it offhand.

Even after sitting for a week or two, my 08 shows full charge in 10-15 minutes.

Yes there will be a constant really slow drain, even more so if you are using the security system. The ECM and IC are never truly "off", so they will slowly sap power. Pop it on a tender once in a while and you will be fine, or disconnect the battery for long term storage.

Will turning the kill switch to OFF, help in this case or not?

Nope. What you may be referring to is a bug in early ECM programmings that caused the ECM to not go into its lower power "off" mode if you turned the bike off using the ignition instead of the kill switch, as result the battery drain is significantly higher resulting in a dead battery overnight. That is not the case with the 09s or any 08s that had the ECM updated.
